was started by a hog rancher, later the US Army built a Fort near by so a train came to the town, now its just a bunch of people from around America and the world who have join'd the US army. (you can get citizen ship that way)

Founded 38 BC by the romans in cooperation with a germanic tribe cologne turned out to be the greatest and most civilised city north of the alps, sporting many temples dedicated to roman, germanic, celtic and oriental gods, baths and water access.
After turning christian under the franks it proved to be one of the most richest and important cities of the holy roman empire and was seen as "the holy cologne" as a great amount of holy bones and other saintly corpse parts were brought there which drawed in many pilgrims and contributed to the clerical cities riches.
It stayed out of the thirty year war and was stuck in medieval thinking with guilds and a jewban until it surrendered to Napoleon before getting hurt who brought us numered streets and free trade.
After Napoleon wasnt anymore, the prussians came to which we surrendered as well to safe our skin. They tore down the city walls safe for the gates and expanded it greatly. Cologne reacted by integrating the mocking of the prussians into our carnival which probably originated in some kind of roman saturnalia.
Cologne- catholic, rich and oppurtunistic above all. Under the empire we were in favour of the Kaiser, under Hitler the first to crack down on jews and when we were utterly flattened by british bombers we claimed to have always been resistent to the regime and embraced american culture and democracy.

>1950-1970: Montreal's golden era. Everything looked bright. The economy was growing and Montreal was poised to remain the economic capital of Canada. But by 1980 the first referendum of independence for Quebec had sent hundreds of companies packing to Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, forever crippling the Montreal economy.

Since then we've been solidly number 2 behind Toronto, but Montreal has made a pretty good recovery since 2000. Overall, the city itself has cleaned up its act, and although our economy still lags behind the rest of Canada, the cost of living is lower and it evens out.
