I have polish, English, Scottish, and probably other heritage which doesn't mean shit because I'm an American and I don't retain any culture. If asked to self report I'd report Polish because it's the largest or at least most recent chunk, which can easily change down the line. Will my kids, when/if they marry when/if they exist feel strongly about retaining their family name that was assigned by one poor son of potato farmers that huddled on a boat a hundred years ago?
