Stupid Rednecks
Is texas south or is it considered it's own region?
T: Not a burgerland pro.

>>72319558
It's a matter of dispute desu
They like to think of themselves as both Southern and their own thing, what is indisputable is that Texas began as Southerners colonizing empty land in Mexico. They were also an independent country for a while so it's understandable why they might feel that way though.
>>72319558
it's its own thing desu
but they're our greatest ally so we include them
>>72319726
also since we're posting historical music

I think I read somewhere that more young people identify as Texans first and Americans second than older people do.
>>72319990
Found it
https://www.texastribune.org/2014/04/03/polling-center-texan-first-american-second/
>Maybe even more surprising, younger voters are more inclined to call themselves Texans first. A slight majority of those who identify as Texans first are between the ages of 18 and 44 years old. Among 18- to 29-year-olds, 40 percent identify as Texans before they identify as Americans, far outpacing any other age group. It’s not grandpa that places the Lone Star over the Stars and Stripes, but his grandchildren.
>Looking to the future, it’s possible that those identifying as Texans will grow. The members of the racial/ethnic group most likely to describe themselves as Texans first are not, in fact, Anglos, among whom 27 percent describe themselves as Texans, but are instead the growing population of Hispanics, among whom 33 percent identify as Texan first.
>>72320308
>but are instead the growing population of Hispanics, among whom 33 percent identify as Texan first.
Is this some Aztlan horseshit or are they for real
>>72320941
No idea, does sound a bit fishy. Not from Texas though I don't think they're awake yet.

they look like they smell of cigarettes and cat piss.
Why is this board so left-wing all of a sudden?
I used to be one of the most left wing people here, but now there's literal commies everywhere.
>>72323234
/pol/ caused the /leftypol/ to flock here because it also has flags and there's a certain degree of toleration for political discussion. They think if /pol/ is their hugbox than /int/ is their's.
>>72323833
*the right's hugbox
i am from illinois hello
>>72323833
I've never really visited /pol/ more than a handful of times but being able to have political discussions without the thread going full retard is one of the reason I post daily on /int/.
>>72324085
There's no such thing as political "discussion" on /pol/. It's too fast and it's userbase is by and large way too new. Not to mention all the plebbitors on there that usually use Reddit for actual discussion and reserve /pol/ exclusively for getting their shitposting yayas out. Shame because it used to be the best board on the site.
Nowadays /int/ is far better for news, and news isn't even technically allowed here.
>>72323999
yes hello yes, would you like some tea
>>72324218
this pretty much sums up my view of /pol/, I don't really have anything wrong with their beliefs but I'll be damned if it isn't the worst fucking board on the site
>>72319990
As a Texan born and raised then transplanted to Alabama, it's true. I'm a Texan first and everything else second. It's a pride that almost all Texans are raised with. In junior high school, while most others are taking generic social studies, we had Texas history. The pride is great and strong. Don't mess with Texas.
>>72324655
>In junior high school, while most others are taking generic social studies, we had Texas history.
Absolutely based. This should be standard in every state.
>>72324655
What's your answer to >>72320941
>>72323093
Without Zoe Trump wouldn't be president.
>>72323234
I have a feeling it's just a counteraction to /pol/ and trolls jumping on the wagon.
>>72319558
The Eastern third is Southern, the Western third is South Western, the pan handle is Great Plains, and the border is Mexican. Make of that what you will.
>>72324873
I guess I could be qualified on the subject since I was born and raise in the Rio Grande Valley, McAllen and to a greater extent Hidalgo County.
I find it to be true. Sure, many, especially some of the last generation are still strongly connected and proud of their Mexican heritage, which actually moreso directly relates to the culture of the natives of long ago, not really Mexico the country. But, yeah, most are proud Texans and glad to be Americans. Still, that Texas pride mostly overrides all other identities. As an RGV native, that too comes with it's own pride within and of itself, although many of the younger ones swear they'd like nothing to do but leave to someplace like DFW, SA or Houston, but The Valley has it's own unique culture that is hard to leave behind and many end up coming back.
>>72326202
I just watched No Country for Old Men for the first time last night. What is some other Texas kino? You're my favorite state besides my own desu
>>72326010
if you've ever been on /brit/ you should especially know what I mean, at a certain time every day the general fills up with teenagers discussing their retarded edgy "anarcho-______" ideologies and there are legitimate communists as well.
>>72326509
kino?
>>72326707
Whoops, let my /tv/ shitposting background show
Movies I mean
gonna dump a few old pictures I saved yesterday, all Southern
>>72326761
lol
Can't really say. I know one that is still probably enshrined in The Valley to this day but it's more of an RVG thing. Selina. When that chick died the whole place fell into mourning for almost a year.
I will say, Texas cowboys/ranchers are real and some tough sumbitches. Ever heard of the saying "take the bull by the horns"? It's no bullshit. Family friend I grew up with did bull riding and he went out to the pasture, grabbed this fucking bull by it's horns, got it to shove and twisted its head. Bull flopped right over on it's side. Now we're talking about one hulking young dude, but I've never saw anything like it then and haven't since.

and that's all for now
>>72327136
how hard is it to use your seat belt or a lighter instead to open it in the first place?
>>72327034
wew, that's almost unbelievable, those things are fucking huge. How big is the rodeo in Texas still? somebody linked to a recap of one a few threads ago.
>>72323234
here a small hint
>>72327013
Here's one place I used to live. Trailer is gone, but it looks like the cottonwood tree is still there.
>>72327248
Germany =/= the rest of the world, and most Europeans couldn't give less of a shit about the American President.
>>72327234
As I don't live there anymore, I can't say for sure, but we have rodeos in Alabama every so often too. I can imagine it's still same as it always was.
>>72327296
Forgot pic. Place looks a lot greener too. My dad says pretty much the whole time I was there, The Valley was in an 18 year drought.
>>72327324
Are you kidding?
Trump is in the news all the time
>>72327248
national debt has shrunk by $89b since inauguration
illegal border crossings down 40% in february
235,000 jobs in feb, average hourly earnings up 2.8% compared to last feb
EO just signed to reorganize and cut the useless fat from government departments
so far so good but unfortunately i don't think he'll be able to destroy the Fed or end birthright citizenship though
>>72326704
I'm there too much but yeah, there's too many communists there lately, not really sure what spurred it on desu but it dies down most of the time when all the underaged go to sleep. Last night we had a nice discussion on coca cola and whether cheese is a topping.
>>72327429
most people have their own countries to worry about, and since he's not starting wars and sending refugees your way I'm not sure why you would. Literally nobody has ever tried to talk about Trump with me here besides my neighborhood Indian shopkeeper and I've never overheard anybody talk about him in public either.
>>72327408
Behind that place was more fields. Once, I was 12-13, we were playing around out there when the owner pulled up. He started yelling but we were a ways away. We flipped him off and kept walking. All of a sudden we heard a boom so we hit the ground. Heard pellets whizzing overhead and landing a bit aways in front of us. We took off running like the devil was on our ass. Never had that happen again, but from that day forward, I knew. When a sign, "Trespassers will be shot", in Texas, they fuckin mean it.
>>72327559
EU and therefore germany considers him a threat to their globalist plans
>>72327440
but at least he will get rid of obamacare, am i right?
>>72327559
That strange.
Considering that after Brexit, you are gonna be at his mercy, one would expect that Brits would be more interested in Trump
>>72327408
The flatness of places that are more westardly in the South really catches me off guard because I'm so unused to it. Also is that a fucking palm tree?
I'll contribute a picture of my old neighborhood innawoods in Virginia.
>>72327559
>whether cheese is a topping.
protip: it is
>>72327811
not British, you illiterate
>at his mercy
lel what the fuck does that even mean?
>>72327581
Not surprising really. Around harvest time, some setup protection for their fields. They build bonfires at opposite corners and have a few guys at the other corners. They shoot at any silhouette that crosses.
>>72327856
Yeah, it's a coastal valley so it's not really surrounded by any large topography.
Your's looks like some of the deeper places in Alabama without all of the pine trees.
>>72327581
WEW
I've had people come out with guns at me when I was a teenager but none actually fired
>>72327559
Fuck off yank, people talk about trump all the time here
>>72327906
Protection from what exactly? Produce theft?
>tfw the south invented a second person plural for the English language
Dixie: 1
Rest of the Anglosphere: 0
>>72327988
Also, yeah, palm trees are everywhere in The Valley. I know I was told why, but can't recall at the moment. Here's an interesting article on Valley palm trees. I, however are more fond of mesquite for reasons. They, however, don't fair to well in "northern" climates like in Alabama.
>>72327767
28 million people are not covered under obamacare
5.6 million decided to take the fine instead of participate in it
and that's ryancare, which will not pass in its current form
and there is speculation that it's only being put forward because it hurts paul ryan and will be used against him, which is great because paul ryan is a fucking faggot that needs the rope
>>72328116
That and destruction of property(product). We were some precocious lil shits I tell ya. lol
Used to cut trails through the sorghum to play our war games and such.
>>72328076
Outside of uni campuses no they really don't, and I go to pubs, restaurants, and any other public place where people usually socialize, and have some British family as well.

Mostly produce theft. A good size group could put a hurtin on a field in a field in a few nights. They get the goods and sell it roadside for their own profit.
>>72328256
Yes they do, maybe they don't around you because they don't want to appear rude, but people talk about trump and all the dumb shit he spews
>>72328935
t. one of those people on the uni campuses
>>72328971
t. yank
Fuck off

You are more of a Yank than we are by nature of drinking unsweetened tea. The truth hurts, doesn't it?

>>72330934

I like this, it has potential
>a cor-vete? look at how low it is to the ground, why would yoo want wunna those?
>floorduh
>flatest state in the union
>>72331146
Might do it in the south and make people think northies do it too. Then some people might run into eachother and think it's normal on both side
*warns you to get off my property*
>An American woman of Indian descent has accused White House press secretary Sean Spicer of racism after an exchange in an Apple store in Washington.
>Shree Chauhan, 33, challenged Mr Spicer as he was shopping, asking: "How does it feel to work for a fascist?" - referring to President Donald Trump.
>The footage shows Mr Spicer responding to the initial barb, about working for a fascist, by smiling and saying: "We have a great country."
>Ms Chauhan, the founder of an education start-up, then asks him: "Have you helped with the Russia stuff - are you a criminal as well? Have you committed treason, too, just like the president?"
>Mr Spicer can then be heard saying: "It's such a great country that allows you to be here."
>"What can you tell me about Russia, Mr Secretary?" the questioner persists.
>Mr Spicer then walks away saying: "Thank you very much," while Ms Chauhan repeats: "You know you work for a fascist, right?"

Can someone say "war crimes"?
>>72330934
FUCKING NORTHIEFAGS REEEEEE
>>72337048
>war crimes
meh
Shouldn't have done it though. Nigger tier tactics like that are reserved for total war against other countries, not putting down a domestic insurrection (as they saw the CSA legally). They were trying to have it both ways.
>Victoria 2
>try to play as CSA
>the US still has cores on all of your land permanently even if you win the war
>you always just get destroyed eventually unless you literally invade and balkanize what remains of the US in a second and sometimes third war
>the game starts in 1836 and the UK has no cores on the US
>the same amount of time between American Independence and 1836 can pass in-game and the cores are still there
>the game has an entire Civil War-themed expansion pack and none of this is addressed
I fucking hate Sweden
