http://money.cnn.com/2015/08/04/news/economy/russia-sanctions-impact-imf/

>Sanctions imposed on Russia because of its support for separatists in Ukraine could shrink the economy by as much as 9% over time.

>The IMF expects Russian GDP to shrink by 3.4% this year (2015), as falling real wages, the higher cost of borrowing and shattered confidence hit domestic demand. And western sanctions, and Russia's retaliatory ban on imports of food and agricultural products, could be responsible for nearly half that decline.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/timdaiss/2016/08/19/prolonged-sanctions-rip-into-russia-causing-angst-for-putin/2/#38660686e4cc

>One Novatek project, the massive $27 billion Yamal LNG project to be built in the Russian Arctic, has suffered considerable setbacks. Prohibited from securing financing in U.S. dollars, it scrambled for at least a year in search of funds and finally turned to Chinese banks, which are more expensive and less flexible than Western funding.

>Budget problems from low oil prices have also caused Moscow to try selling large stakes in its state-controlled energy companies. In late June, Russian media reported that the Russian government was considering selling 19.5 % of its shares ($10 billion) in oil major Rosneft to China and India. Last week, however, Russia was forced to delay its privatization of Rosneft as it waits for oil prices to improve.

>Russia’s oil exports have been helped to some degree by the massive devaluation of the Russia ruble, whose 20% loss against the dollar last year was added to a nosedive of 44% the previous year. Though a weak currency hurts Moscow, it makes Russian oil exports cheaper.

Bet that warmwater port was worth it, huh? To sail ships you can no longer afford?

China manipulates the yuan to deflate it so that their export market is stronger. Because they actually produce things.

Unlike neither of us. If the dollar or ruble were deflate, we'd both be in trouble. Well, not "would." You currently are. We're fine. In fact our stock market has been booming since Trump.

I don't wish any ill will or harm toward Russian people, but if you want the sanctions uplifted, you'll have to return Crimea.

The difference between China and Russia however is that China actually manufactures valuable things, so their deflation strategy benefits their economy as a whole. Not worker's wages, of course, but the general GDP.

That was back in the day.
Currently China is trying to increase the value of the Yuan and failing miserably. They have sold billions of dollars in foreign currency and bonds to try and increase the value of the Yuan, and it keeps going down.

The tables have turned. They devalued it too much, and now can't control it.

They are dealing with capital outflow, and devaluation of the Yuan. They are setting caps on capital outflow now.

What was that passenger airliner doing flying over active war zone?

Sanctions don't work. Of course, life is more difficult and a lot of people have problems with a job, debts and so on here, but everyone or most of all by this reason starting to be more patriotic.

All agression, that we have, because of low life level (which started after sanctions), and which is rising - we have not for our government. All inner evil energy is risign. This energy will give motivation for fighting with enemies (who did all the sanctions). Can you feel it?

Your countries thought about, that after sanctions people with empty stomach will do revolution, but russians are another, we starting to be more friendly for each other. Putin's ratings are growing up, not down, because of your sanctions.

So, your sanctions don't work. We starting to be more poor (simple people), but we are not starting revolution. It never will with sanctions, because under sanctions people hates another countries, not own.

Just think, if few persons in school will not give to you apportunity to have a lunch from parents, you will hate this hooligans or parents?

The same is here.

Look on cuba or any other country under sanctions. Sanctions policy do life level too bad, but all this countries was with love inside for each other and leader mostly.

Also, russia will not just die without food and voice. If stomach will empty, we will go out of borders for food.

Your sanctions should to be stopped. Because of them can be really bad situation with wars.

It is only my minds. not oficial version. I am far away from policy. I want to have peace and friendship.

Your su-33 can't even have a full tank of gas if they want to launch from the ramp. Meanwhile catapult systems can handle shit like the C-2.

More than half of the Chinese air force is Cold War shit that sucked even at the height of the Cold War. They have some decent planes now, but nowhere enough to challenge US superiority.

China doesn't even have all the capabilities of the 1980s Soviet military.
>>
>>72286657
>and is still seaworthy

Yeah no.
>>
>>72300996
They don't even have military capabilities of todays Russia. But their GDP is bigger than USSR has ever had. And that means they will get stronger. The game right now is the game with time. Bad for us, because you guys will be tempted to look for support in Russia. And Russia's price can their neighbors.
>>
>>72304096
China's per capita GDP is $6800. Even today's Russia is higher than that.
>>
>>72304185
Difference is that russian gdp has been stagnant for the last 10 years while chinese have doubled theirs in that time with 7 times the population.

Pretending russia will ever be more than a c-list regional power along with brasil and pakistan is kidding yourself.
>>
>>72304304
>while chinese have doubled theirs in that time with 7 times the population

Maybe before the 2008 recession. At the end of the day, China will never be a truly developed nation as long as they retain a party dictatorship.
>>
>>72304185
I know. I ment their total GDP. Per capita in China is shieet. But there is 1,5 bln of them, so they can build the army.
>>
>>72304540
>But there is 1,5 bln of them

Well past an optimal population level. A country with that many people is never going to be functional or run well.
>>
>>72304738
Why not? What is the optimal population level? I'm not siding with China here. Just trying to underline that underesimating the "enemy" is never a good thing. Fortunately for you US policy doesn't seem to do that.
>>
>>72305035
China is about 600 million people past an optimal population level. That also ignores the extremely corrupt, repressive government they have which is also a huge handicap. Since when has a dictatorship ever led to a functional, prosperous society?
>>
>>72270976
un-aesthetic
>>
>>72305122
>Since when has a dictatorship ever led to a functional, prosperous society?

It's not really about the mode of government, China has a mixed economy that's very good at rapid growth. We'll see if they can handle the transition to a consumer economy but China already has a middle class that's larger in population than America's.

Plus, despite the diversity in China, 90% of Chinese are Han Chinese who think of themselves as a race that has existed in a vacuum for thousands of years. That's a fucking strong ass combination that America doesn't have, so we unironically have to rely on diversity.

I don't think it ever did. So you are right about that. But it did led to formation of well working war machine before. Chinese don't need to be happy to be dangerous. They don't even need to be as strong as US to change a power ballance in the world. I cheer for US in this struggle cause only EU domination (rather not happening in predictable future so it seems) would be more profitable for us than US domination :). I hope you're right about China. Good night and good luck.
>>
>>72305318
Chinese growth is mostly fake figures put out by the CCP, besides they don't have a rational means of investing money, they build infrastructure according to arbitrary planning quotas and most of it is junk since they'll take any shortcut they can to fulfill their state quota.
>>
>>72305348
What if Chinese decided to land in some part of Australia and do a referendum. Would that be fine?
>>
>>72305437
It's not "mostly fake figures" you propaganda slurping idiot. China is growing at a phenomenal rate and we need to be wary, the media is usually 5-10 years behind on what China is doing. Their economic planning is far more intensive and thorough than America's.

Yes, they take shortcuts and there is massive corruption, but it's not too different than what happened in Singapore or Japan except China is also building an xboxhueg military to ultimately defeat America.
>>
>>72277347
>and the future
Only if you can't afford a catapult system. Catapult Systems allow aircraft to carry much more payload/fuel than what a ramp would allow.

Having a Ramp either forces you to be like the Russians or British. The Russians have their aircraft carry signifigantly reduced payloads/fuel, reducing their overall combat capability and range. The British choose to just use S/VTOL aircraft that they currently do not possess, so instead are going to have US Marines operate their aircraft off of their ship.

Or you can have a catapult system like the Americans and French and have the ability to launch fully loaded aircraft that you actually own.
