its the language of the people that discovered almost a whole hemisphere
Spanish as a language itself is a treasure, almost as much as all the history and monuments in Spain itself.
Besides that, we have one of the most effective police forces in the world, capturing around 17 terrorists before they could act in 2016 while the rest of europe only got 2.
Funnily enough, they used to joke around saying the spaniards couldn't handle their internal terrorits (ETA group) because they were busy doing siesta, but the truth is the police force got a lot of experience and practically destroyed the terrorist group.

In my opinion, the further apart you get from us in the Spanish language the better, eventually you should call it Mexican/Colombian/whatever. If possible, you should abandon Spanish altogether and speak in Nahuatl or English.

I honestly don't want to share any kind of cultural or linguistic sphere with you or your kind.

And it is terrible to hear the constant nagging of millions of latinos in youtube, plebbit, 4chan or whatever other corner of the internet saying how their particular dialect is better than the rest and, of course, smearing Spain and Spaniards at every opportunity, bonus points if they do it pretending they are not butthurt chicanos or latinos.
Few days ago they undercovered a mass grave in Mexico of more than 200 people murdered by the cartels, one of the most voted (and downvoted) messages was of one particular chicano saying, unironically, "How Spaniards are to blame for the situation in Mexico".

It is tiresome.

The more I know the average "Hispanic"-American, the more I despise all of you with increasing fervor.

What do we even have in common? What do we gain in this relationship?

The biggest ever tragedy of modern Spain is being associated with you by all this ties of the past, it is a constant smear by itself.

4chan isn't representative of the real world. I thought Spanish would be hard and bullshit too, but it turns out that in fact you can easily shift from one dialect to another, it only takes like a week until they start to feel natural. And most Spanish is easier than the heavy internet slang that's ubiquitous here. The fags in the Hilos Latinos are shitposters on a level seldom matched, and are not representative of the Spanish-speaking world in general.

>>
>>72270390
My point is, that's what you sound like when you say that "tromp" and "jílari" is correct.

Also, the "café con leche" bit was actually not so bad since at least in the US we use the Spanish name for the style of coffee that she's talking about, since "coffee with milk" could refer to many slightly different varieties. In fact, from an American perspective it's not such bad English as long as it can be understood, and foreigners didn't think it was nearly such a big deal as Spaniards did, but it's still a good example to use for things since it's well known.

I think I know what he means, he's being a dick though, everyone has an accent and everyone thinks their accent is not as bad as the others...

As for the example... "The last of us" would be pronounced like "de lasta fas" by many spaniards... but again, I don't think that's inherently bad, everyone's english has a different touch.

Nothing... in the year 1200.

The problem is, they're still stuck in a medieval mindset, full of tribal warfare, religion, goatfucking, and simple economies. The moment oil runs out or alternative energy forms obsoletes oil, Arabs are going to collapse into a violent shitstorm.

Such is the price of stagnation.

I have actually learned Spanish and it's nowhere as nasal as french or Portuguese. Only Spanish women sound nasal sometimes and I think it might come from them having large beaks (I still love spanish chicks). The lisp thing is real though in most cases, you didn't even try to refute it.
>>
>>72275109
>The lisp thing is real though in most cases, you didn't even try to refute it.

I didn't try to "refute" it because it's a dumb meme and you know it. Peninsular Spanish contins both the θ sound and the s, as do English or Greek; none of these languages have a "lisp", since a lisp is an inability to produce sibilants.

>cebolla? more like thevolla
>zapato? more like thapato

-ce, -ci, -za, -zo- zu are used to represent th+the five vowels. (-ze and -zi are only used for foreign words). It is a consistent system that works well. I would expect a Magyar, of all people, to be a little more self-conscious when it comes to criticizing other languages' use of the Latin alphabet.

>dios? more like thios

Now you're just being silly. Nobody says thios.

> moreso that you use the th a fucking lot for sounds that aren't th in other languages

You are confusing "sounds" with "letters". You are struggling the fact that these letters represent different sounds in your own language. This is a very immature way of seeing things and one of the biggest obstacles for language learners, who refuse to adapt to other languages' use of the alphabet and then wonder why their pronunciation is shit.
>>
>>72275613
The Madrizzz thing is common amongst some people. But is not the standard accent from Madrid
>>
>>72275609
the other dude just brought up the Madrith thing and it's real. so there are people who do so in certain words
>>

It is mostly a thing from Manchegos. It is pretty much a joke now desu. The accent in Madrid is closer to the one in Segovia generally than to the one of Albacete

>Magyar, of all people, to be a little more self-conscious when it comes to criticizing other languages' use of the Latin alphabet

in Magyar, once you learn how letters are pronounced is always the same pronunciation in every word (really, aside from Historical names)

I'm not hating as much on Spanish as you think btw

The hilarious thing is that they mimic an american accent when they pronounce their names but they don't do that with other languages like russian or japanese. Always wondered why.

I mean lots of people from Madrid come from la Mancha. They also brought Ejj que and laismo. The latter has spread a fucking lot
>>

>in Magyar, once you learn how letters are pronounced is always the same pronunciation in every word (really, aside from Historical names)

The same can be said of Spanish: it is 99% consistent when it comes to letters and pronunciation, as opposed to English. What would strike a close-minded person odd about Magyar is not a lack of consistency, but the fact that the letters are used differently than they would be in his own language. Once you wrap your head around the fact that different languages use the same alphabet in different ways, the road to learning opens.

I'm a Latvian immigrant. My secondary language is English and I'm fluent in Russian. I've lived here for 14 years since I was 8 and I can tell you, there are far more Brits who speak a foreign language here than any other Anglo country.

Also French > Spanish

that's not saying much considering that Britain is close to the top on the list of countries in the EU where people don't speak any foreign language (Hungary is close too, I'll admit)
