Un navegante atrevido
Salió de Palos un día
Iba con tres carabelas
La Pinta, la Niña y la Santa María

Hacia la tierra cubana
Con toda sua valentía
Fue con las tres carabelas
La Pinta, la Niña y la Santa María

Muita coisa sucedeu
Daquele tempo pra cá
O Brasil aconteceu
É o maior
Que que há?!

Um navegante atrevido
Saiu de Palos um dia
Vinha com três caravelas
A Pinta, a Nina e a Santa Maria

Em terras americanas
Saltou feliz certo dia
Vinha com três caravelas
A Pinta, a Nina e a Santa Maria

Mira, tu, que cosas pasan
Que algunos años después
En esta tierra cubana
Yo encontré a mí querer

Viva el señor don Cristóbal
Que viva la patria mía
Vivan las tres carabelas
La Pinta, la Niña y la Santa María

Viva Cristóvão Colombo
Que para nossa alegria
Veio com três caravelas
A Pinta, a Nina e a Santa Maria
(La Pinta, la Niña y la Santa María)

>Relations between the Argentine Republic and the Federative Republic of Brazil are both close and historical, and encompasses all possible dimensions: economy, trade, culture, education and tourism.[2] From war and rivalry to friendship and alliance, this complex relationship has spanned more than two centuries.
>After achieving independence from the Iberian crowns in the early nineteenth century, Argentina and Brazil inherited a series of unresolved territorial disputes from their colonial powers. The most serious breach in the relationship was the Cisplatine War (1825–1828), led by the Brazilian invasion and annexation of the Banda Oriental. Despite the numerous periods of muted hostility, the Argentine–Brazilian relationship was not defined by open hostility for most of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. There was competition on many levels, and their respective defense policies reflected mutual suspicion, but the Brazilian economic rise in the 1980s led to the accommodation of Argentina as a secondary regional power and increasing cooperation.[3]
>With the creation of the Brazilian–Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials in 1991, the two countries turned their nuclear competition into cooperation through mutual confidence.[4] A high volume of trade and migration between Argentina and Brazil has generated closer ties, especially after the implementation of Mercosur in 1991.[5] Today, the strategic relationship between Argentina and Brazil is considered to be "at the highest point in history".[6] Argentine foreign policy has given special emphasis in "deepening the strategic alliance with Brazil in all its aspects".[7] Likewise, Argentina has been "an absolute priority" for Brazilian foreign policy.[8]

“God Save the Queen”

They did help us become independant fucking Argentina and Brazil in the ass after we played the two like damn fiddles making them fight each other and lose money.

But we tried getting rid of them, a glaring example is that we tried to help the Nazis in WW2(not to mention that Hitler and Mussolini liked it here) but the eternal anglo didn't let us. The graff spee is a known anecdote, it was surrounded by british ships and took guard in Montevideo, the people here received them like heroes and tried to help them the best they could but problem was that there were powerful brits in Uruguay so they couldn't stay for more than 3 days and the ship couldn't be fixed.

It was sunk.

Nowadays we still have good relationship, we never recognized Argentina's Falklands claim until 2 years ago when the left government officially announced it. We still feed the Falklands though and they like us a lot

That's really interesting. Did you have any well known Nazis immigrate after WW2, or was it only Argentina who got them?

Honestly I don't remember books right now, I read a lot when I was in elementary school and some more in middle school but mostly articles by journalists and shit like that.

I know that Brazil took land that had resources in it, or they wanted to take it but I don't remember if they got the exact land they wanted.

Reminder that the population of the Graff Spee went to live in Villa General Belgrano, at the heart of Argentina.

Dunno if well known because they rarely teach us about Nazis so I don't know famous guys, it's avoided completely at school(Hitler built a hydro plant here but we're literally never told that, just like we're not told how we fed both allies and nazis in the war), once in a while one of them dies of old age or we find out a descendant or someone that was here but "disappeared".

They changed their names and just mixed around so nobody knows how many, a lot went to Argentina because Peron helped them, some came here, some went to Brazil and some to Chile.

It's not all that, it just seems better from the outside.

Though i've been told by foreigners that it actually IS good and people here just love to complain a lot, of course they tell me it's not as good as they say but it's also not as bad as Uruguayans make it out to be, we love to complain, must be the basque influence.

Still the country is going through a rough time now, Mujica fucked our economy and Brazil(our second biggest partner after China) got fucked in the ass so that's bringing us down too. With efficient management we can overcome it without suffering a big blow because we have a lot of trading partners we didn't before, problem is that I don't think the government is efficient enough.

We didn't, after the war things went relatively smoothly until a series of revolutions during the early 20th century, add to that the great depression, the chaco war, 35 years of dictatorship, etc.

Overall, we're doing pretty good (25% GDP growth these last 4 years) despite being a landlocked hellhole with close to 0 natural resources.
