You can look into getting a temp apartment or something (not a hotel) and try and live a little more normally. Go to the grocery store, buy your stuff, cook it at home. Drive our roads, use our public transport, take out the trash, etc.

US has a great economy, she might like somewhere like Florida too or even Texas.

California is over saturated and is overall just a generic place to live. Other warm places like Arizona, Nevada, or New Mexico can be pretty nice as well.

I'm planning on moving to Wisconsin with my daughter soon, not interested in the warm weather but I'll be able to buy a home and so on without paying a ton in taxes.
