I was referring to his time as prime minister, although the idea that politicians that take office in EU institutions like commissions and others are "our people" in EU, abhorrent as it is, does float around among some of the politicians, especially of the more nationalist and conservative variety.

Right now we have a public insurance to which you have to pay obligatory contribution you youbwork and then it will pay the hospital for you if you get sick. Similiar to you system, but we have one fund instead of few competing ones. They want to completly axe this and just finance all public hospitals straight from the budget. The thing is there will be no direct contributing to system like now, where there is a specific healthcare budget and if you are student it also covers you ofc. They want to directly finance it from budget, which means that politicians will be deciding how much frommoney general tax money goes to hospitals. And I have a feeling that theyll rathel buy votes with social programmes than give money to expensive oncological therapies and shit like that. Right now there is a specific fund financed from all working people that has to go to healthcare. If they axe it nothing will prevent them from giving even less money to healthcare, which they already started to do as much as they can

Exactly, it already started. In Poland doctors training to become specialists (i think those are assistantarzt over in your country) have their salary payed by ministry of health directly, not hospitals where they work. And PiS cut over half of those residencies, meaning that some of the people graduating from medical schools will be forced to emigrate even if they wanted to stay in Poland. And all that while we have smallest number of doctors per capita in the eu, instead of trying to get them to stay theyre forcing them to move to other countries to finance their vote buying. They have no regard for the future

It is but uneducated people think it isn't. Poland gets the most of investment from EU and life has significantly improved. However, the people who didn't keep up or didn't lift themselves by re-training or re-educating but laughed at these who did now are bitter and accuse everyone else of theft. When I was studying and working at the same time preferred to study during the weekends. My friends laughed at me and some called me nerd etc. Now I enjoy sitting at the desk, listening to music all day and developing software solutions. Some of my colleagues turned away from me out of pure jealousy. Unfortunately they didn't see me when I was painfully going through all of this and cleaning toilets just to get extra buck for my studies. Typical Polish mentality.
