Brazil speak Portuguese so their independence make sense.

Colombia used to be part of Gran Colombia and we all know that story.

Bolivia is geographically isolated.

Suriname, French Guiana and Guyana are all from different colonial powers and have different cultures.

Argentina and Uruguay should be united but they aren't but whatever.

Venezuela is independent because of Simon Bolivar.

But Paraguay makes no sense at all.

Actually they stole territory to Bolivia, it's called "the chaco", it's literally the entire western part of their country.

the neglect part is that this was the innermost landlocked mudhole property of the Crown of Spain and West Indies. Lima was too fucking far, the second biggest town (Buenos Aires) was also days away in boat and the warring natives and portuguese were always an issue. what did the king do? give a permit for Paraguay to choose their own governor as long as they don't fail to pay taxes. so Paraguay was always semi-independent
