>>71867423
I liked it quite a lot desu. I only started to read it because my brother became very devoted to his church and noone else besides me from the family seems to give a shit, so i decided to get in the touch to what's he always talking about. Turns out it was a great read mostly, but it's no lie that about 30% it's useless information.
My favorite book was the book of Job, but overall the new testament is much much better than the old. By the time you finish the book of revelation you don't know whether your seek for more information or just close the book and never open it again. (in Brazil they give pocket editions of the new testament for free, so, there's that)

Both Whatever/Elementary Particles are more about 'sexual politics', or how the hippie sexual revolution didn't bring 'sexual socialism' but instead only ruthless 'sexual capitalism'. I don't really agree on the stuff he says but both a good read if you tend to empathize with pathetic loser protagonists.

Yeh, i ignored the footnotes too, i only checked them when i couldn't comprehend what's written. My advice is to ignore them on every book, with the exception of only parts that are obviously metaphorical/symbolistic (everytime someone have a dream or when Jesus talks). Also, if you notice both pages you're into are just numbers and contruction dimensions, just give a quick look and skip it, no dimension in the Old Testament are really important

I never learned to read, I can't ride a bike, and my feet hurt when walking.
Took a night class for immigrants who are learning English, on advice from the community learning centre advisor as it is designed to be cheap and very open minded. It was a completely failure: the Chinese and Somali students ended up calling me "stale white bread" for not being able to write or read. I wasn't aware of it because they were writing it on a piece of paper and holding it up to each other, snickering, while I was asked to stand up and read aloud; being unable to read what they wrote it took till someone explained to me before class one night before I realised. It was painful, to be honest. The nice lady who told me said they were merely bullies and in her country people like me are fondly called "混蛋", which means "hard working, gentle man". That made me smile a little. After the second week the instructor quietly told me after class one night I would be better giving up trying to learn and looking for factory work instead.
Last week I was finally able to take another driving test but was really nervous and kept mixing up the 3rd and reverse gear. The exterminator asked me to pull over around halfway through the test compared to the last test but it was a busy street and I ended up rear ending the car parked in front of the parking spot I pulled into. The instructor told me the exam was over so I asked him if I should drive him back to the RTA, as it was a good 15 minutes drive away and some ten minutes of that drive on 80km/h road but he told me to "get fucked" and "never step foot in my workplace ever again." Still haven't returned to that RTA and still owe them $45 for the exam, the thought of stepping back in their is giving me the shakes thinking about it. The car was a hire car but I accidentally got it bogged on sand due to driving across the beach to avoid the police while driving back to the hire place without a license.
Fuck books :(
