But imagine how many problems we'd solve if we didn't. Sure, we might lose a few illustrious personalities such as Luxembro, but it would force people such as myself to brush up on their long-neglected Irish.

>500 legal infanticides per day in England and Wales 2015
>ZOMG DEM CRAZY TAIG PAPISTS DID SUMFIN SHOCKAN AN HYPOCRITICAL DECADES AGO

This type of thing happens all the time. The left looks at the child-killing and sexual perversion that infested the RCC in the past (with the tacit consent of "secular" society), then condemns it while they do the same thing openly as "virtuous".
>>
>>71851706
>Lads what do ye think about a Galway or Cork-version of the Luas?
Cork could definitely use a system, an East West line from Mahon to Ballincollig via the city centre should work, it was looked at a few years ago. Some lines to the South, Carrigaline and the airport to the north, maybe connecting it to the mainline rail should also be looked at.
Galway had a solid plan, but it's probably too small for a system, they should start with segregated BRT and upgrade to light rail when the numbers increase.
>>
>>71851725
And if that wasn't the case, they were cucks for the English in the ground zero of what went wrong in this country.

>>71851706
Galway doesn't need one.
They'd probably butcher the old town to do it too.

Christ, that would be chaotic in construction and operation. Cork's street layout and topography makes it very unsuitable for any such system/
>>
>>71852018
>Cork's layout and topography
It's a fucking light rail you fairy, it's not like you're trying to send it through a fucking mountain.

Could have 2-3 lines that connect in the City Centre rather than one big line. One from Ballinacollig, one from Cork Airport, and one from Mahon.

It'd use up less track that the Luas in Dublin and make it easier to get around.

Probably a mix.
They didn't want hoors on the street after all, which is what would have happened in pre-Christian (or early medieval) societies.
It was combination prison and social welfare system desu.
What we have now is a mistake in the opposite direction, which is more damaging to society honestly. The culture of "don't say anything about corruption within the church", to whatever extent it existed in different times and places, was pretty cancerous (for both the RCC and society - we are feeling the fallout), but we have the same shit today except it's foreigners and (open) sexual deviants who you can't talk about these days.
>>
>>71852018
The city centre would be difficult, but the bits outside there might not be as bad, particularly if you take the Mahon walkway and convert that back into a rail. Most city centres are difficult to implement a new tram system in. They will have to increase East-West capacity in Cork eventually anyway, the N40 is at capacity in some sections between the Kinsale roundabout and the Lynch Tunnel, the best way to increase capacity in an urban area is by rail, that's easier than building another Southern ring road.

We had & have chaos in Dublin from the building of the luas but it's worth it in the long run, especially if it improves the use of the airport there. A good public transport network is great for business and helps lower congestion.

I'm not seriously blaming this on ANCAPism (of the NAP autism kind). I just thought it was a pic relevant to the topic that was being discussed, and that the hypocrisy was worthy of one of those meme balls. Do you know if there's a type specifically for mainstream liberalism/democratic socialism?

Regardless of the extremes people see in AnCap and libertarianism children are still the responsibility of their society and in the protection of society until they come to an age they're educated enough to make choices, ultimately this decision should lie with the parents. Unless the organs are sold or donated prior to death it impinges the individuals rights, harvesting and transplanting the organs would be harmful to the recipient again impinging the individuals right.

Pic related would be my plan.

There'd be another line running from Cork Airport and linking with the mainline at a depot.

If you're going by (very, very roughly) estimates it cost to build the Dublin lines, it'd cost between €200 and €250 million to construct.

If you wanted to add another line to Cork Airport, it'd probably add another €130-€150 million for a total of €330-€400 million.

If it's done over say a 6 year time frame, that's €55 million per annum.

Very doable, and likely very beneficial. It'd make getting around the city easier, it'd bring investment into the local economy, and it'd likely boost tourism.

irish identity and culture is intertwined with Catholicism and I went to catholic schools and have had only positive experiences from clergymen
On the other hand, they committed absolutely atrocious things here. Nobody would mind if it was a couple pedo priests but they then hid these priests MULTIPLE times rather than having them arrested.

>Those are some very conservative budget estimates.
It's going by the pricing it cost to build the lines in Dublin. It works out at around €20 million per km in Dublin (I think it'd be cheaper in Cork honestly).

Even so, a €500 million LUAS in Cork would be great. It'd stop boggers from hating us and would in fact make them hate us AND Cork since we "get everything".

The Dublin-Cork axis will rule (until the Dublin-Belfast axis eclipses this alliance).

SDLP have been losing to SF steadily for years. They represent the 'catholic' voters who don't like gay marriage or abortion in any case, and posh Catholics who refuse to vote SF. They'll probably chug along on that basis for some time.

UUP is a bit baffling, they should have been the prime beneficiaries of this election. If this government scandal can't make unionists vote UUP then what chance have they got in other elections? The hardcore unionist votes goes to DUP, the moderate progressive unionist vote goes in part to Alliance. Who votes UUP?

/r/ireland's views are more extreme versions of the prevailing attitudes Ireland today - possibly a reflection of what Ireland will be like in 20-30 years. I can see some of the UUP splitting to join the DUP so that the biggest party in the North is still a unionist party, because if this trend continues with the same parties SF will be the biggest soon enough, that will help the DUP scare tactics of vote us or SF will be the biggest party. If that happens the ones who are pro EU might join Alliance or go independent, one or two could join Jim Allister either.
I think some of the SF members in more rural areas are not as favourable about abortion either, so SDLP will probably lose that vote too.

Its looking like direct rule again since the Mervyns will throw at shitfit at these results. It does not make sense to let the DUP be the main party just because they got 800-500 more votes.

If you ask me, I think Martin McGuinness is still a British agent and they gave him a pill to make him look sick to torpedo the assembly and bring back direct rule to hold onto NI during the massive upheaval of Brexit. Unionism is pretty much on the ropes now as Catholics become the majority, but they didnt vote much in recent elections before this one.

Back during the troubles they used to issue their double agents with sick pills so the agents could get out of doing something like killing some soldiers or planting a bomb, without looking like they are trying to avoid it. They did this because technically they were not allowed to commit acts of terrorism while working for the government (though it did happen sometimes, they tried to avoid it).

Really gets my noggin' joggin', lets wait and see.

The difference with /r/ireland is that their opinions, while more extreme than what is common in public discourse, are still far more acceptable than the opinions discussed in /éire/. I kinda wonder what Ireland is going to be like when there's a million Unionists in the country. We're going to have to accept them marching and stuff. I wonder if the marches will be considered Irish in 20-30 years time, or whether they'll still consider themselves British.

Apathy, and the unwillingness to break the barriers to thinking some scary thoughts.
People live with the idea that stability is absolute and that "law" and "democracy" exist as something like the secular equivalent of the Holy Spirit, rather than convenient labels for a compromise between power and more power. "Spooks", you could say.

No way fuck these cunts and their marching. From may to the end of august they have weekly marches though all the Catholic towns and villages, sometimes during rush-hour.
They should only be able to march in their own areas and not block traffic.

As for Irish/British, they are one or the other only when it suits them. If they were talking to you they would be British but if they were talking to some English person they would be Irish and playing it up.

FF has been looking to get into the North for quite a while, after this fuck up I can see the SDLP agreeing to a merger. FF can stump up the money for a campaign in the North, and the SDLP already has the candidates.

FF is as good as, if not better than, SF when it comes to electoral strategies.

This clusterfuck of an SDLP campaign makes it almost certain that FF will take over.

FF don't give a shit about the North, they always say they'll run there every few years to try and get some of the republican vote here. I could see them running though if reunification is more likely. Some of the SDLP might merge with the British Labour party or what's left of the Irish Labour.

FF doesn't have an election machine in the north, Micheal said they wanted to run in 2019 (2020 now probably). FF was in talks to run a merger with the SDLP but the SDLP shot it down.

They can't really afford to shoot down another proposal though. Brexit really gives FF impetus to go into the North though, they're likely to be in power here, and having ANY sort of influence in Westminster (even if it is only 2-3 seats) is likely to benefit them in teasing out deals out of the British.

Having MLAs in Stormont would also be a significant gain. It'd probably even give them a reason to push for reunification, since they'll have consolidated seats in the North and would benefit them if the North elects TDs.

>British Labour
Kek they'd get fucking murdered, British parties don't tend to do that well. SF would eat whatever remains of the SDLP if that happened.

Aye, right now they do. FF taking them over would give them more money and better planning though. FF is also interested in gaining power for power's sake so they don't give a fuck whether they need to be Communist or whether they need to be Republican to compete with SF.

If being more hardline than SF gets them the votes, then they'll be more hardline than SF.

MAYBE progressive Catholic types who hate nationalism would vote for them or their SDLP puppets. But that's a crowded field, there's alliance, greens, PBP and labour alternative. What madman would look at today's results and think 'yeah let's go after SF'

The point is that they're going to merge with the SDLP, take the SDLP's current seats into "Fianna Fáil" and then expand by targeting areas where they think they can get votes.

Fianna Fáil are notorious for running 4 year long election cycles, as soon as they're in power their minds are on winning the next election (we regularly go 8-12 year streaks of FF in power, then 4 years of someone else, and 12 years of FF again).

It wouldn't be an overnight success, but FF are probably the only ones who could stop the SDLP's slide into electoral suicide.

Because SF is never going to get into power in the Republic, and FF being in power up there means they'll be dragged into being nationalist by SF and into the right by compromising with the DUP on everything. With any luck, it'll drag them into the right south of the border.

I think you're underestimating Sinn Féin here. They might be just 'meh' in the south, in the north the are a whole different story.
They did after all go up against the most cunning politicians of them all, the British government(s). They would shred any southern party *in the north*.

Your references to brexit though are interesting I accept.
