We have "daylight savings". So in winter we wind our clocks backwards an hour to get more daylight in the afternoon. In summer we wind our clocks forward to get more darkness in summer.

Queensland closer to the equator, so the effect of seasonal sunlight changes is smaller compared to the southern states and therefore doesn't practice daylight savings.
