I've moved around a lot during my upbringing, so I don't really have what one'd call a "hometown".
Pic related is probably the place I lived longest before coming to Gothenburg, where I currently live.
Dals Långed is a small town with about 1500 inhabitants. Almost everyone there makes their living from working at the local horseshoe nail factory (one of the largest horseshoe nail factories in the world, according to some of the proud workers).
On the outskirts of the town, there's a small settlement called "Bräckan". The inhabitants there are fairly isolated from the rest of the townspeople. When the rest of the townspeople talk about them, they tend to do so in a pretty dehumanising, if not outright racist way (even though everyone is white). It's far past the boundaries of innocent banter.
To be fair, I don't miss this shithole one bit. I have nothing against small towns, and I might consider moving to a small town again. This place is shit no matter how you look at it, though.
>>71689116
By the way, the railroad and its station has been out of service for at least a decade.
>>71686793
You don't have to be rich to live in Florida. My mom was trailer trash when she lived there.
I grew up in the west of Paris, kinda boring place. Mostly rich Catholics, a few Jews. But it's beautiful, close to more touristy places, you have great private schools, close to a huge park to get some fresh air. And it's pretty much 100% safe, at most you have rich kids doing stupid shit and Arabs coming from elsewhere selling them stuff.
Very expensive to live there. When I moved out, I went to a more centralish eastern part of town, with three roommates in a kinda small apartment apartment. But it's much closer to my uni. It's a more fun part of town, too.

You missed the 2150€ at the Bir Hakeim station. There's actually not much actual economic activity there, but it's right next to very touristic spots. Eiffel Tower is at Bir Hakeim, for example.
So, landlords know people are stupid. They divide up the huge Haussmann-style apartments in these neighborhoods, and turn them into smaller studios, and rake in a the cash.

Pic related is Rovaniemi, a town in (barely) the Arctic Circle. Too fucking cold during winters, although this year hasn't been that bad.
Not much else to do here during summers other than drink and work. Winters are alright. Can go skiing, sledding or go on the ice track with your car. Lots of asian tourists here from China and Japan during winters.
Town of 50 000 or so. You can walk through the city centre in 10 minutes. Very little crime too. Great place to raise kids, I have noticed.
