Why are roads that bad?
>>71546828
Russian climate, American roads.
The freezing and melting cycle of water through the seasons completely fucks the roads (since they're not the right concrete for the climate, because it's cheaper that way), then morons driving trucks through the city smash into the larger cracks and potholes, fucking them more.
And no repairs can be done until Summer.

This. Reminder that building codes for roads in the US and Canada have barely changed since WWII and are doomed to be lazily repaired over and over until the end of time due to dumbfuck state governments.

Yeah, I understand. I just thought roads are better in Canada. Although, they learned to make ok roads last years. Pic related is after at least two winters.

Sorry, wrong picture. This is after several winters.

The roads are fine in, say, Toronto (where the government funnels our money), but outside of that and highways they're pretty shit.
Northern Ontario won't have proper roads until we start voting Liberal and they start giving a shit about us.

stop living in Canada, problem resolved
>>71547571
That's sad. I thought it's cool and comfy to live in a small town in Canada.
>>71547629
I wish.
Your city voted Conservative? NDP? Too bad, the Liberals don't care about you. Oh, you voted Conservative and the Conservatives are in power? Still too bad, Toronto (and sometimes Ottawa) comes first, because that's where the politicians live for 90% of the year.
And it's made worse because they're constantly cutting Northern Ontario's budget to try and balance the province's, even though Toronto costs FAR more than we would if we were 10x larger. No more passenger rail, gut public transit, merge cities that make no sense and close half the schools, and so on. It's insanity.

Our problem here is everyone uses studs because the road maintenance is so bad and the roads are so icy, but then that forms ruts in the roads which is expensive to maintain because we use cheap asphalt.
So we've got shitty roads made shittier and the government has no money to solve the problem because of the oil crash.
