The ancestors of the overwhelming majority of today's Israeli jews lived outside of Palestine. The vast majority of them descent from immigrants from the last century.

Zionism is literally the most WE WUZ ideology there is. Jews are neither an ethnic group, as there are Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrachi and Ethiopian Jews who all look differently and have completely different histories. Nor are Jews a religious group, since atheists can still be Jews, in fact many of Israel's founders were atheist/irreligious.

This is true is so far as all ethnicity is socially constructed, but if claims to Palestinian nationhood are false, then claims to Jewish nationhood are even more false. At least Palestinians live on the same area, look similar to each other and they speak the same dialect/language.
