Now that there's school holidays, kids are at home and not getting free food at school.
More and more stories are coming out of kids going hungry not being able to buy themselves even a €1 frozen pizza. Their parents are alcoholics who leave the house in the morning to drink and don't feed them or care for them.
Alcohol is our biggest curse.

i never really ate anything at school. we usually had school from 8am to 1pm, so it wasn't necessary. on the rare occasion that i had school until 4pm, i ate something of course

we had a cafeteria where everything was too expensive for students so only teachers visited it and the whole thing was run/owned by the schools janitor and his wife.
