It's the best, clearest and easiest to understand out of all the English accents. It's authoritative, clear, concise and strips away all the other bullshit of other English accents like:

>English accent
* Pronounces "R" as "ahre" or "Ah"
* The more north you go, the more retarded you sound
* Stupid slang words that sound autistic

>Australian/NZ accent
* Stupid abbreviations
* Adding -ie suffix to everything (brekkie, barbie, tazzie, mozzie, muzzie)
* NZ can't say "a" and "i" correctly

>Every other accent
* You're saying it wrong
>>
because we talk slowly

those autistic flaws you mentioned are basically shortcuts made from being more experienced with the language

I actually unironically prefer the "neutral" American accent. Much more smoother and cooler than let's say RP.

incorrect
even Canada has some pretty heavy accents
it's just that in the US all the richer people who can afford to go to Europe have all adopted that generic boring midwest American dialect, in Britain any unintelligible working class arsehole can afford to book a bucket flight for the weekend to Rome or Venice.

I have been to the US lmao I just told you.

and yes, people in NY spoke different than people in Illinois or Ohio, but overall you all sound American, there's nothing comparable to the difference in accent between somebody from Liverpool and somebody from London, and if the accent is heavy they are both fucking difficult to understand for somebody who learned English in school. "Pure" British English like you hear in the news is not difficult and everyone in America speaks in that slower US English that makes it more clear to foreigners.

Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, Washington DC, might be forgetting some.

Because English spoken in America simply sounds (sorry for what I'm about to say) absolutely retarded. Alas, the majority of speakers has a way of speaking that is just unpleasant, by exaggerating the 'r' sound or simply being annoying to the ear. British English doesn't sound forced on the opposite.

Abuse of incorrect expressions (literally, would of, or abuse of 'like'), frying voice phenomenon doesn't help one bit, although it is not a matter of accent.
>>

rural Ohio looks the same as the rest of the rural places in the Midwest (the ones I visited at least).

dunno though, for us Europoor city dwellers rural America feels very cozy.

For an English person used to hearing the English accent, the sudden change to the American one is quite violent.

Also, most of the times we hear American accents we have access to volume control, which sadly isn't the case in real life interactions.

to me it is, it's slower, more clear and adheres to the rules we were taught in school more than Liverpool or Glasgow accent for sure. even Southern drawl, being more difficult than the other variants, it's still slow as fuck and it's not full of dialect words and inflexions.

well if you're a brit you're obviously biased and every dialect in Britain will sound more familiar to you. and conversely you'll feel more alienated by American accents.

for me, a person who was taught English in school, American accents are way easier to understand, and even where there's a somewhat heavy accent they are never as intelligible as some accents I heard in Britain.

Strong, challenging southern drawls are largely concentrated in very rural, middle-of-nowhere regions. I don't imagine italbro visited any middle-of-nowheres, so his description of the suburban and urban population centers of the south, which makes up a good chunk of southerners, seems accurate.

I can understand difficult accents from my own country very easily but that doesnt mean that I dont know how difficult they are. But the same is also true of american accents as well

>for me, a person who was taught English in school, American accents are way easier to understand, and even where there's a somewhat heavy accent they are never as intelligible as some accents I heard in Britain.

Ive met quite a lot of american southerners and the only person from the south that I have met that has a generally understandable accent was from Birmingham in Alabama which is the largest area in the state. The similarly difficult accents in the UK are from either small single areas such as newcastle or largely uninhabited rural areas such as the west country and the scottish highlands. Thats why theyre both around the same rather than one being much easier to understand than the other in general.
