Yes. Logically thinking about the nature of the universe leads to the existence of a force which breaks the cycle of the eternal answer of "why?" by being a effect with no apparent cause. A God.

Within this framework it is possible for lesser god-like entities to also exist as well, so over time my doubt of the claims of organized religions has waned. There's nothing that stops them from being partially right.

>>71407138
True. He could start with some Feser or Krieft.

Yes. The universe is of such complexity that I refuse not to believe in some kind of higher power which designed it. Actually, I'd consider the universe itself to be this higher power. The universe, by definition, is everything there is.

Now one thing... I definitely don't believe in a Christian god. If there is a God, he would never have a human character of any sort. He wouldn't have anything to do with the bible, nor with any other so-called sacred book. Let's get that fucking clear, brainlets.
>>
>>71407211
>has never read serious religious philosophy

Now you're gonna tell me you fall for the Dawkins/Sam Harris meme?

>>
>>71407456

>>
organization as a physical phenomenon is the nature of nature
the arrangement of things in things and parts of parts is the solution to a chaotic system, an "entity" to organize" is not required

as you cast a stone into the pond the pond will naturally still the waters, a calming actor is not required, same for the universe
>>
>>71407365
Fundamental principles, which are necessary for civilization to exist, need to be justified by a higher authority so people won't question it. If a rule is man-made, it's a matter of time for people to start questioning it, but if it allegedly is god-made, then there is no discussion.

That's why Christian principles were able to exist for so long, because there is a God behind it. Not literally, but the masses think so and that is good.

>>71407468
He's just another handicapped monkeybaby.
>>
>>71407468
>Now you're gonna tell me you fall for the Dawkins/Sam Harris meme?
Don't know who either of those are.

>Seriously how do you expect to have an educated opinion if you haven't read non-retarded arguments?
I don't know what you're talking about. Theists have no way to back up their arguments, therefore I perceive all of them as "retarded".
>>
>>71407598
>tfw not even reddit tier

>>71407637

>>71407598
>Theists have no way to back up their arguments, therefore I perceive all of them as "retarded".
Have you ever read Aquinas, subhuman ape? In one of his assertions he concludes, through logic, that there must be a causation to the universe. And no, it's not the big bang, before such explosion the universe already existed (although it occupied a much, much smaller space).

There must be a beginning to everything. It could be argued that whatever triggered the beginning of the universe is god.

Now how about educating yourself before trying to engage in any type of discussion, my little simian friend? Because you're just embarrassing yourself. Shoo shoo now, back to your cage like the good Chimpanzilian you are.
>>
>>71407331
You can be tired of it but that won't refute it.
>>
>>71407756
>There must be a beginning to everything.
Therefore, there must be a beginning to god. See how easy it is to make irrational assumptions, dumb macaque?
>>
>>71407730
What convinced you of atheism? Any particular argument or philosophy?
Or just "all christians are retardss they believe in muhh sky wizaardd xdd"?

Both theism and atheism have a lot of valid arguments, ideas, and philosophers behind them. Reading Dawkins is reddit tier. Dismissing any side out laziness without even reading shit is less than reddit tier.
>>
>>71406281
in some way yes, but the thought of it does not cheer me up at all
>>
>>71407849
Aquinas debunked this quite a few centuries ago senpai
>>
>>71406921
But how is Atheism a solid position?

You can discount many things through science, true, but you can't do that with everything at the moment. Atheism, just like theism, is based on faith rather than fact.

Agnostism means you have not the evidence to draw a near certain conclusion.

>you can't disprove God even if he doesn't exist!

You can eventually get to a point where, assuming technology is advanced enough, God can at least be ruled of all things of import.
>>
>>71407849
No. There is no beginning to God. God exists beyond the concept of cause and effect. There is no logical explanation other than what we have spoken of here in this thread about in this thread.

Often anons on this board will read this argument and say that it is preposterous because it's illogical. Well, of course it is. That's why people call it faith rather than logic.
>>
>>71407822
It's inherently flawed. You cannot argue for an unmoved mover, because someone could simply claim the universe is unmoved yet moving.
>>
>>71406281
You mean the IRS?
>>
>>71407852
>What convinced you of atheism? Any particular argument or philosophy?
No, just common sense. Christians being retards probably helped, though. Also, I didn't imply that I'm "atheist". Just that believing in "God", as religions define him, is dumb.
>>
>>71407914
Everything in the universe consists of potentiality and actuality. Nothing changes by itself without an outside influence. For the universe to exist it must have been created by pure actuality, people call this God. Otherwise our very existence is paradoxical and unsustainable.

Agnostic doesn't mean "I'm not sure if I believe," you retard. Agnostics literally do not believe in a higher power.

The only difference between agnostic and atheist in this context is a willingness to tell the theist he's wrong. But both agnostic and atheist say "I do not believe."

Universe is fucking stupid. It's literally a bunch of balls moving around each other throughout the infinite darkness. Some of them glow. That's about it. It's the lamest, yet the most overrated thing ever.

you know most christian denominations don't teach that the creation story is literal truth, right? The fact that there are two different creation stories in genesis is telling enough.

It was a story made by the jews long after the bulk of the old testament when they were slaves in babylon. It was written in opposition to the enûma eliš to define how the jews viewed God, the earth and their relationship with both.
