Has anyone here studied/learned Japanese through the shadowing technique? Most polyglots say that getting a fundamental understanding through shadowing is the proper way to learn rather than grinding grammar books and anki.

I can read just fine, however when it comes to writing stuff here I honestly don't know if I'm using は/が properly, like I said I pay no attention to it.
I learned kana, a couple of kanjis and did Anki for a while. After that I started trying to read manga and easy stuff.
I didn't start practicing speaking (as in writing stuff) until recently, so I'm really bad at it.
I consider myself pretty mediocre to be honest, considering that I've been learning it for almost 4 years I should be a lot better. That's what I get for being lazy, I guess.

が is used to describe a situation (AKA verb) in 描写文 (Sentence of picturing reality).
So since you make it look objective you put emphasis on not the situation but it's component (が marked noun)

は is used to make something the thing you want to describe, so you use it kinda like a pointer and than you proclaim that you want to describe it with what comes next.
I believe it's like an introduction of the sentence.
What's important is than the description of it.

This means that the use depends on what you want to describe (noun) or (reality).

That's why you do not use は in a subordinate (unless it's contrast), because you are describing the head noun of the subordinate.
