I'm not upset per se that these protesters and types of people are muslims and foreigners in general, it's that they're leftists. Leftism is the only way they can justify their being there, even if they're truly not leftists, it's just a facade. It makes me extremely angry, and I wish they would drop it and become cognizant of the fact that screaming for a "europa solidaria", they don't even know what the fuck that means or will entail besides them being "welcomed" there.

What I'm saying is that especially in your case, you can't deny Iberia has a long history and has been through the ages filled with all sorts of different people, you had these communities of billingual peolle who spoke latin and arabic, a lot of cool stuff. This came from some years ago (maybe 2011). There was/is a huge crisis in Spain (like in the rest of the world but bigger). The political party running Cataluña (CiU, a coalition of two catalan-nationalist and no independentist parties) was losing support because they made reforms (less money for social aid), and their Hospitals were shit. Tehy also have a lot, A LOT, of corruption from many years ago, the biggest corruption case in Spain (Jordi Pujol and his family). So they start blaming Spain for everything and saying that everything will be better if they were a country, because they are superior to the rest of spaniards and richest.

You can also go back to the XIX century to see the roots of Catalonian nationalism, how supremacist and racist they were then and how now are they same.
