Also worth mentioning we avoided crossing the borders of Río Uruguay due to the constant threat of being attacked by the Iberians and rival tribesmen, so when the Spanish wiped out the hostile tribes of Argentina it actually helped us a lot.

Later Rosas took over Argentina and he also respected Gauchos so there was really no problem for us in Argentina. The Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilians were the real cancer at the time, not Rosas. Rosas only became a real cancer when he tried to annex Banda Oriental under, not exactly Argentine, but a heavily centralized Porteño government, and that caused a massive mess because everyone in the whole region hated Buenos Aires to death, even the Argentines themselves.

So the original colonizers of Argentina were in fact the Spanish. Gauchos arrived afterwards but also in great numbers.
