Hi
>>71312451
I may be wrong, but aren't Samogitia and Samogitian Duchy something else?
>>71312962
Not by much, pic rel is current Samogitia within Lithuania, so you can see the difference by yourself. It's just place where Samogitians live, they are probably not much different by DNA, maybe a bit more related to Latvians, but they just have their own ethnic dialect, just like Czech and Moravian but maybe a little bigger difference. I really have no idea why Poles and Belarusians call everyone in Lithuania žmudzins. I have nothing to do with those guys and Lithuania existed without them. I mean, that whole region in your map from Ukmergė (where I live) right to the edge of dark green border is where Lithuania started. Then it moved leftwards towards sea. Places like Ašmena (Ashmyany) were ethnic Lithuanian territories (what is now Belarus).
>>71312391
very nice, much more Sarmatian than the previous one
>>71313244
Interesting, I didn't know they were that different.
>I really have no idea why Poles and Belarusians call everyone in Lithuania žmudzins

I think that's the answer, it's a similar situation.
It seems like we confuse you with the inner subgroup within your cunt in order to avoid confusing the inner subgroup of GDL that you were.

>>71313244

>>71313980
Modern Poles and Belarusians are claiming that real Lithuania (not the ethnicity but the state) was Belarus and that modern Belarus claims its legacy. They claim that they were "Lithuania" and we were just Samogitians.
Don't ask me why, I dont know
>>71312962
>Eldership of Samogitia

>>71314605
Well aren't both technically legitimate claimants to the legacy of the Grand Duchy, even if ethnic Lithuanians were in charge?
>>71314605
>Modern Poles and Belarusians are claiming that real Lithuania (not the ethnicity but the state) was Belarus and that modern Belarus claims its legacy. They claim that they were "Lithuania" and we were just Samogitians.
No no no
We're saying that both you and Belarussians were Litwa. You were a part of it of course, but the point is that it's Belarussian also have the right to claim Lithuanian heritage.
>>71314987
>>71314993
Both are legitimate claimants to the nation, it's just triggering when anyone says something along the lines of "modern Lithuania is 25 years old, real Lithuania were Belarus and Lithuanians back then were just Samogitians from swamps" or something like that. Especially knowing that current Belarus doesn't even protect it's own Ruthenian language which was spoken and official during PLC times, replacing it with Russian without any regrets, assimilating itself just into being yet another (post)Soviet state where even KGB is still a thing. I mean, Jesus Christ.
>>71315282
>Especially knowing that current Belarus doesn't even protect it's own Ruthenian language which was spoken and official during PLC times, replacing it with Russian without any regrets, assimilating itself just into being yet another (post)Soviet state where even KGB is still a thing. That is pretty depressing, I hope they'll recover someday. I heard Minsk-Moscow relations got colder recently, but I doubt it's anything serious.
Speaking of which
>replacing it with Russian without any regrets
Isn't speaking Russian publicly acceptable in Lithuania?
>>71315282
I didn't even know this was a thing, but I could see why it would be triggering, yeah. I've always just thought of Belarus as mini-Russia (not in an ignorant American "every Slavic country is a mini-Russia" way, but because of the government). What was their role in the Grand Duchy? Did they ever make their way into the nobility?
>>71315897
>Isn't speaking Russian publicly acceptable in Lithuania?
Well it's not like there's much they can do about it. I think they have less Russians than Latvia and Estonia though.

>>71315981
Yeah I get it, you seem like a well educated American. You could say it is mini-Russia by government because of the past, it was basically Russia. Right now it's more like balance between Russia and EU, no one can really tell what's it leaning to. Recently Lukashenko made a no visa thingy for all EU states, no more than 5 days and only if entering by plane. But it's a first step to no visa between EU-Belarus. And Russia is actually restoring their border with Belarus because of it.
It had a major role in the Grand Duchy, they had nobles, armies etc. Everything a normal nation has. They were in the the nobility, but very heavily Polonized after 16th century. Until then, they spoke Old Ruthenian, and afterwards just Polish. After the partitions, it was Russification and they started speaking Russian. So having in mind that they only had their own language in majority official use until ~17th century and then alternating between Polish and Russian, it's kind of understandable that they are confused in their own identity. I am actually not very well versed in the subject so I can only link this for now.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruthenian_nobility#Polish-Lithuanian_Commonwealth
>>71315897
Well yeah but Lithuanian is the only official language. We have about 6% Russians and a lot more speak Russian as their second language as it is taught in school. Everything still has to be Lithuanian though. No one is going to ban speaking Russian.

I'm a bit more tolerant of beer than you, but I basically feel the same way. I hate hard liquor, I wouldn't knock anybody that does like it but even after having drunken it like 50 times I just can't get used the taste. If I'm getting drunk I just have a few glasses of wine.
>>71318440
I'm still kind of confused about what "Ruthenians" are, I used to think that it was just an archaic term for Ukrainians but since then I've learned it was basically a different culture that a few others descended from, unless I'm still wrong. My knowledge of anything east of v4 is basically entirely from EU III and IV.
>>71318900
wtf
>Currently, Polmos Szczecin is the only company to produce Starka, and they offer it in all age classes, from 10 to 50 years old. All Starkas produced by Polmos Szczecin contain 50% alcohol by volume. There is also a 10-year-old Starka that is 80 proof (40%). The oldest Starkas offered by Polmos date back to 1947. There is also a number of other companies (most notably in Lithuania, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Russia and Latvia) that produce vodkas styled after the starka (produced mostly from a mixture of rectified spirit and herbal tinctures).
Apparently you even produce better thing, and it's already good here. You should look for it and try it sometime, it's great and not disgusting at all.
>>71319017
Well to be honest most of people are still confused what Ruthenian means today, as it meant a different thing in the past. Before, it meant people from Rus' or former Rus' (Kievan Rus' territories, before Muscovy or Russia even existed). But since then Ruthenians "evolved" or "gave rise" to few identities (ethno-linguistic): Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians. Nowadays these countries tend to avoid this term for some reason, maybe because they want to hold on to their current identity and not associate with each other. I guess that calling yourself Ruthenian as Ukrainian would be seen as associating yourself with Belarusians and Russians, implying some sort of union or something like that. But generally Ruthenians are Belarusians, Russians, Ukrainians and Rusyns (Carpathians). You really won't find this term almost anywhere nowadays, it's only related to past and when used, it's usually in the context of past and doesn't refer to modern nations/people.

>at 2016 there were 1600 bottles for sale
>each cost 400-1000zł

>>71319612
I had no idea it had anything to with the Kievan Rus. The reason I had this misconception in my head was because in EU around 1444 all of the provinces in or around modern day Ukraine are marked as culturally Ruthenian, but Belorussian is a separate culture within Lithuanian territory around the area where modern Belarus is. I guess this is what you get when you let vidya teach you history.

>>71319945
That's weird as hell. We have it in every supermarket.
>>71320261
It's unusual for foreigners to know even that much so even vidya knowledge is really great for that period. I mean, what else attracts people to that time period nowadays? And to that region? Anyone I know who knows about Grant Duchy and all those other things, they all play EU4. I am not even sure if there are any people who discovered it in some other way, must be in single digits. Don't worry about knowing a lot about it, Poles, Lithuanians, Ukrainians and Belarusians are arguing about it to this day, kek.

Why do you have it out for hohols so much, Lublinbro? I've never met any in real life so I have no personal experiences with them. Unless you just dislike them for historical reasons, which is fairly understandable.
>>71320700
I've lived in Central Europe so I have a bit of an advantage in terms of knowledge about the reason over other burgers, but yeah it's mostly because of Age of Empires and EU, which gave me a broader interest in history and lead me to read actual historians and journals. If every schoolkid in America was forced to play those games we'd be a lot less retarded.
The PLC is also interesting from a political standpoint though. You were the closest thing to us in pre-America Europe.

Because in terms of politics, history, identity, economy, and pretty much everything else that makes country a country they're like a headless chicken suffering from Down's syndrome and hallucinations. They're in the state of permanent chimpout.
>Unless you just dislike them for historical reasons
"Historical" implies it's in the past, not in the present, so I'm not sure if I can write off what they currently do and claim as such.
My perspective is kinda like this: Belarussians got all the good traits from both Poles (non-invasive) and Ruskies (friendly), Ukrainians got all the worst (easily triggered and cruel).
>>71322560
>and Ruskies (friendly)
How the fuck are Russians more friendly than West Slavs?
>>71322963
Russians aren't unfriendly, they're just remorseless. So an average Ivan will happily greet you and share some vodka with you, but he will equally happily bash your head in if you do something he doesn't like. Not caring is their default mindset.
Poles are less extrovert and very grudgeful, but they also tend to be moralfags due to their martyr complex.
I remember a Russian poster on /int/ told me what I think was some Russian sentence about how what's in the past is of no use or something similar. It's kinda funny, because we have a few sayings that claim the exact opposite. Shows how different we are.
Keep in mind these are just generalizations, so you can find plenty of exceptions from both mentalities.

No, it's way too expensive just like most of the games
I bought Origin account for 1,6 €, you get username and password and it has game in it. You can't change the details but basically it's yours and no one else will login. I got this problem just today though that Origin keeps saying "account already in use" and keeps making me go offline, which I assume means that owner still logins to the account. But you get a warranty, meaning that if there's a problem with account you will get a replacement.
It's really cheap if you don't mind that you will have to change accounts for different games that you want to play and that there is like 5% risk of losing the progress. It's great if you want to just play game one time and then leave it be.
The Division account for uPlay for example costs 0,47 €. There are a bunch of games that you can buy accounts for, basically any. Rainbow Six Siege, GTA V etc...

That account was sold probably to 20 more people and like half of these 20 sold the account even further. I doubt it is the original owner that logs in t bh
>>71350250
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhqUk28OwHs
>>71350439
Well it only happened like a week later and password with username cannot be changed due to restriction of security question which is not in the purchase so it's either the owner or someone else bought it. However, if it was sold to other people I would assume that I would get the notification every 10 minutes. You are still probably right though. It didn't cost even 2 € though and I only wanted it to try if I can run it since developers nowadays don't produce demos to increase their profits. Only modern game which I have seen with demo is the latest DOOM. When I bought the account, the guy was already leveled up to level 20.
Funny thing is that when you get notification that account is in use you can just click to login anyway and it will force the other guy to go offline, lol.
It's seriously good thing as you can just pay a couple of euros and try out the latest game which is not even a month old. For example, there is now For Honor account for almost 5 €.
This is an invasion you have to fight me off!

>there are a few meme Czech beers including Budweiser
At least you have that, I tried American Budweiser for the first time a few months ago (until recently I wasn't old enough to drink in America, only Europe) and it was literally abominable. I thought people were just memeing about American beer being undrinkable but it's completely true. I'm sure Lithuania must have some decent brands, though, right?
>>71358763
Yeah we have some decent beers but majority of them taste like piss to me now after I tasted more bitter Czech beer. Most of our beers have this really light, yellow colour that resembles piss. I can't stand that anymore, it tastes like kvass or lemonade. I can only look at brown or bronze colour beer. We have plenty of those too though, which are decent. But I don't drink them anymore.
American laws always amused me, for example just almost 3 months ago I became legal age for drinking in America. And kids drink since 12 or so lol.
I was really young too at that age and got first computer in like 2008 anyway. That feeling when experiencing your first gates of Oblivion in that hill... holy shit what a feeling it was to go through them and experience the red, surreal world.

>American laws always amused me, for example just almost 3 months ago I became legal age for drinking in America. And kids drink since 12 or so lol.
The weird thing about the drinking age being 21 is that almost nobody besides old people actually support it and nobody follows the law. It's just that no politician wants to touch the issue because then insane puritan old Protestant grandmas will blame every drunk driving death of somebody under 21 on them.
>That feeling when experiencing your first gates of Oblivion in that hill... holy shit what a feeling it was to go through them and experience the red, surreal world.
Playing this for the first time was completely mindblowing, definitely. It just looked so much better and was so much more complex of a world than anything else coming out at the time.
>>71359077
That's weird, because with Tyskie and Zywiec I found it to be the opposite. I sometimes buy cans of that stuff here and find it to be pretty good for a cheap beer, but when I tried buying the same thing while in Poland it tasted like shit. >have to do all kinds of stupid unnecessary shit to enter a country that is objectively more dangerous and crime-prone than your own
I'm so sorry
>>71383371
>besides pepiks and slovaks
Why_ Do you have different criteria?
>>71383716
Poles aren't part of our visa waiver program, something to do with too high a proportion of visa applications from them being rejected. Trump said he would change it during the campaign but I've been told by Poles on here that almost every Presidential candidate says that but never does anything.
>>71383651
I have dual citizenship thankfully but I'm trying to go with a family member and we're trying to get her a visa. Sorta stressful thinking they might not let them get the visa especially after paying almost 200usd.
>>71383716
You guys are part of the visa waiver program, so no visas for you guys.
>>71383797
>>71383818
Oh, I wasn't aware of this
>>71383818
>no visas for you guys
thanks cigane
>>71383818
>I have dual citizenship
super fucking jelly
you probably should have waited a few weeks before doing that just on the off chance that Trump isn't full of shit and will actually do something, but again, that's super unlikely so no harm done.
>>71384759
Literally have been thinking the same thing, but we're running out of time and had to finally start the application.
>>71385303
beautiful
should I order something to eat or should I cook the food myself?
>>71386356
I'm poor
>>71386550
k, you could cook something cheap then, like sausages and rice or something like that, bought food is usually more expensive and not always is good
at least that's what I would do
>>71386639
>combining sausages with rice
>>71386639
>sausages and rice
man, wtf? I'm may be poor but that doesn't mean I will eat whatever I can come up with
>>71386904
what's the issue with that? I don't like rice but I don't see what's so disgusting in particular about combining it with that.
>>71320700
1300s to 1600s European history is extremely under rated
>>71386904
yeah, I guess it's not as good as raw meat, amirite?
>>71387004
is this seriously so triggering for you?, btw, when I say ''sausages'' I mean the hot dog ones
rice with mayonaisse+ sausages tastes like glory
>>71387056
it just doesn't go together, like steak with marmelade etc
>>71383920
Too many illegal poles here (just my opinion i didn't mind white illegals)
>>71387166
*but i don't mind
>>71387126
still, it's not working for me, but I understand that other parts of the world can like different tastes
>>71387064
yeah I thought that it was just under-taught in America because we didn't exist then but it's actually shockingly overlooked here as well. I don't understand how anybody can not be interested in knights and castles and shiet.
>>71387215
alright, however I just mentioned it as an example, you can make your own hot dogs, burgers, rice and meat (if it's not too disgusting for you...), etc
I always prefer to make my food when I have a tight budget
>>71387285
Its an agenda in europe. In france they only give Napoleon 2 paragraphs in their histories books. At least over here they only talk about medieval england because we are an anglo country
>>71387480
You got medieval England in your school? In my state you basically do Ancient Greeks/Romans/Egyptians in elementary school and state history, no history class at all in middle school (civics instead), and then European explorers/French Revolution/Enlightenment/World War I in high school. There's basically a millennium-long gap in historical education, it's total shit.
>>71383797
Was just looking at the visa refusal stats and Poland's actually pretty low, only 5%. Australia, Holland, New Zealand and Spain all had around 15% yet those countries all belong to the visa waiver program. Pretty interesting.
https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Non-Immigrant-Statistics/RefusalRates/FY16.pdf
Just spent like 4 hours playing Division
>>71387285
>Renaisance
>Overlooked in Europe
???
>>71388605
I don't know about what is taught in schools, but in my uni course we have covered literally nothing from before around 1650. There aren't even any lecturers on the staff that specialize in it. No ancient history, no renaissance, no medieval period, no late antiquity, nothing. Also I know the other guy said 1300-1600 but I meant more the period leading up to the Renaissance, we touched upon that subject even in >American education.
>>71388291
Visa refusal rate was just the explanation I was given, I guess it could be because of illegal workers then but I really doubt that's still actually a problem. The whole thing is fucking retarded, maybe we wouldn't be >56% if we didn't make it a pain in the ass for Europeans to travel and live in the country.
>>71389164
>but in my uni course we have covered literally nothing from before around 1650
where the fuck do you study?
>>71389338
an extremely shitty "red brick" (meaning established after WW2) university in London. It's not even ranked that badly for history but my entire experience with it has basically been a three year long clusterfuck, I'm very glad to be leaving in a few months.
są tu jakieś futrzaki?
>>71389164
>I really doubt that's still actually a problem
>tfw my dumbass cousin is working in the States via some Polish "agency"
>says that the entire neighbourhood where he lives is literally Little Polska
>not even sure if he's there legally (quite sure he's not actually)
so yeah, it might be a bit of a problem
>>71387742
Yeah. The conquest of william the Bastard. The crusades specifically the first one. Brief study on medieval society, manga Carta, and the hundreds years war that tapers off after agnicourt. They don't go into the specifics of why france won
>>71387126
>btw, when I say ''sausages'' I mean the hot dog ones
THAT'S EVEN WORSE

>manga carta
>>71389885
how's that worse?, explain yourself
>>71389929
Don't be autistic
>>71389736
but why? If you're going to work in another country because of shit wages at home (which I have nothing against) why wouldn't you just do it legally within the EU and get paid in Euros which are worth more than US dollars?

How is it not worse? Hot dog sausages are literally trash, like half of the stuff inside is grinded skin, cartilage, and fuck knows what else.
>>71390361
No that's where slavs go here in the us. Especially poles
>>71390157
>but why?
because he's a retard
>shit wages at home
he was making 28 thousand CZK/month in northern Moravia, that's far from a shit wage over there
he was working there legally before (as a janitor iirc) and after his gf dumped him, he sperged out, sold his business and went to Poland so the "agency" would get him to the States
>>71390267
yes
was it the >Little Polska part that made you guess that?
>>71390472
Czechs go to Texas
>>71390397
ah yes, but we were talking about cheap food, not about its quality, and yes, hot dogs, burgers and stuff like that are trash food, that's not a secret for anyone
fun fact: people here say that mcdonalds meat is made with worms or rats
>>71390577
>hot dogs, burgers and stuff like that are trash food, that's not a secret for anyone

I've heard of some illegal v4 workers in America before, but I didn't think this was still a think post-2004. I suppose it's more flattering that they're picking us over the UK or Germany than anything else, since they don't really cause problems.
>>71390525
Partially. Chicago is where a bunch of ex yugos move to as well

didn't most people from kekoslovakia emigrate to Pennsylvania/Minnesota/Pittsburgh? i have emigrated miners from both sides of the family

probably not that high, there's not that many of you in the US unfortunately, under 1 million
fun fact though, the original agreement between the Czech and Slovak governments-in-exile during World War I to work together for one unitary independent country, as well as the declaration of Czechoslovakia's independence by your first President was all in the state of Pennsylvania.
>In 1915, the leaders of the Czech National Alliance and the Slovak League of America signed the Cleveland Agreement, in which they pledged to cooperate for the common goal of independent statehood for the Czechs and Slovaks. The agreement's five articles laid out the basics of a future joint state for the two nationalities. Three years later, the Pittsburgh Agreement was concluded by representatives of Czechs and Slovaks at a meeting of the American branch of the Czechoslovak National Council in Pittsburgh. The agreement endorsed a program for the struggle for a common state of Czecho-Slovakia and agreed that the new state would be a democratic republic in which Slovakia would have its own administration, legislature, and courts. On October 18, 1918, the primary author of the agreement, T. G. Masaryk, whose father was Slovak and mother Moravian, declared the independence of Czechoslovakia on the steps of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was elected the first President of an independent Czechoslovakia in 1920.
