It was weird tax policies that were basically designed to put colonial merchants out of business, the lack of representation in parliament, the fact that the colonists were basically looked down upon and seen as lesser compared to the people still living in Britiain, the fact that we'd mostly been ruling ourselves for more than 100 years at that point before the brits decided to crack down on us, and the fact that when we asked the King to intervene on our behalf, he told us to get fucked.
