Like I typed in a similar thread and yet you've felt the need to make a brand new thread for some reason, ship building and being the world's first industrialised country is to blame for a lot of tree loss. We're planting around 3-4 million trees per year. We were down to 5% tree coverage after WW1, it's up to 14%.

England is the most fertile country in Europe, plants grow there 3-5 times faster than Scandinavia
The huge abundance of food production allowed England to have a population explosion as people didn't starve, which lead to more forest being cleared for crops and pastures
This enormous population from an abundance of food on a small island led to the industrial revolution because large populations in small areas rapidly speeds up the transfer of ideas and innovation
The industrial revolution lead to even more trees being felled

Europe has trees? Lol

>The United Kingdom, being in the British Isles, is ideal for tree growth, thanks to its mild winters, plentiful rainfall, fertile soil and hill-sheltered topography. Growth rates for broadleaved (hardwood) trees exceed those of mainland Europe, while conifer (softwood) growth rates are three times those of Sweden and five times those of Finland.

Depends on what you want to grow. Also the Romans really really wanted to conquer the southern half of the British precisely because it was so fertile.
