How is there no bridge or tunnel between Sicily and mainland

Unfortunately, the Sicilians discovered boat technology at some point, which is why so many of them ended up in North America toward the end of the 1800's.

But really, this is an embarrassment. Sicily has 5 million people; it's not some minor island.

The bridge is the last problem of sicily, what's the point of building it if the rest of its infrastructures are africa tier?

Even if it were built, it would connect sicily to calabria, which is almost insignificant, economically poor, mountainous, it hasn't proper highways and it's quite long a region too.

They should focus on building the much needed gibraltar bridge first, the most importante bridge in the world, it's just 20km, not that much

I think it would be pretty cool if a bridge or tunnel is made connecting Alaska with Russia over the Bering Strait. That way people can drive from Cape of Good Hope to Cape Horn.
