No country has really fought a war for its existence since WW2. But that doesn't mean that there haven't been badass stories of American heroism. Go read up John Ripley of the United States Marine Corps of how he stopped an advancing armored column of North Vietnamese tanks and troops by dangling under a bridge to attach 500 pounds of explosives and destroy it.
