Mate, you've got to understand that everything has its risks. Electric showers can electrocute you, gas showers can explode a whole building and so on. BUT, these situations might happens if you build/install them like crap. It's the same with any other device you use. The probability of such thing happening depends entirely of your work, if you do it correctly, nothing is gonna happen (I've never seen on the news a case where someone got electrocuted by a shower).
I wouldn't recommend you taking a shower during a hard storm, though...
