Founding fathers took a few ideads from Magna like how the laws above all, the need for checks and balances, division of power, etc.

And in that sense the US constitution did take after Magna Carta. Sure it's written "All men are created equal" but what it really meant was all men who are white, male, adult, and land owners were created equal and had equal rights.

Only a few hundred years later did it truly come to encompass the rest of society.

I remember back in 2007 or 2005 when I spoke to a lot of tourists from Germany to Sweden to the States and so on who came to visit our National park (I worked with my parents in a shop near the hotels) and I remember them telling everyone that Southern Europe was paradise on Earth. Rich, less crime then their home countries, cheap housing etc. Almost all of them thought Greece was the best country you could possible live in the world.

Then 2008 happened. Portugal and Spain struggled but still live. Greece though. Poor fucking Greece. From paradise to worst country ever.
