Why do European women have hairy armpits?

Am I the only one that wouldn't care if a woman had hair on their armpits?

No but the problem is when people just let it go wild. Armpits and pubic hair needs to be taken care off as much as the hair on your head, or the hair that grows out of your nose and ears, not many people just rock unibrows either, they shave or pluck that shit. So like the rest of your hair, what grows under your arms and on your pubic area should be trimmed and kept neat.

Pit hair is actually more common among East Asian women than European ones. But they tend to have lighter body hair in general, so it isn't always as noticeable.
