we all use the same resource, Book of the Icelanders a genealogical database every Icelandic citizen has access to
its sources are church records, censuses, sagas, and everything else they get their hands on

Haraldur Blátönn is not in the database and I don't think any Norwegian kings
it was mostly people who didn't like the Norwegian kings that settled Iceland so it makes perfect sense that they'd not be included

famous people in the database include Snorri Sturluson (23rd generation ancestor) Ingólfur Arnarson (30th generation), Gissur Þorvaldsson Jarl (got records putting him as 22nd generation cousin but almost definitely an undocumented ancestor too) and Egill Skallagrímsson (29th generation)
