Most if not all of the orange countries were part of the Yugoslav SR - Socialist, but not necessarily Soviet

The Baltic region was Soviet, but it's seen as illegal annexation by the countries in question.

Poland kind of did it's own thing by sort of becoming Soviet, but not really, but really.

Both my grandfathers working in the West in the 1960s: the first worked in Klagenfurt while living in Slovenia, and the second worked for a time in Vienna as an associate of a Yugoslavian firm, and then as an employee of a Swiss corporation. They weren't exactly shot at by the JNA when crossing the Austrian border.
