for those who have a more than decent level of english, what are some words that your countrymen can't pronounce properly?
people from my country tend to think they are good at english but they misspronounce pretty much everything.
>blood pronounced as blued
>look pronounced as luke
>shit pronounced as sheet
>this pronounced as these
>john pronounced as sean/shaun/shawn (they say Sean Lennon which is annoying)
those are a few examples.
I might be just picky since they're speaking a second language, but so am I.
it's so fucking annoying.
cat unrelated.

Underated thread
There isn't really much with specific words
But it's a bit hard for us to pronounce the letter P
>>70791093
>the letter P
wat
I mean I would understand other consonants, but P is pretty much the same all over the world.
>>70791636
We pronounce it B for some reason
Even the christians say Beter not Peter
Though most of us stop this habbit when specking forighn languages on a daily basis
>>70789973
Niggers here can't pronounce 'world'
We tend to have problems with the English "W/V" and "J" sounds.
the letter R is difficult for a lot of Finns since it's always rolled in Finnish.
I personally have trouble pronouncing English words with silent letters.
This only applies to me i don't know about others, but i started speaking american English, and now i'm studying British English so i have a hard time using the Schwa and removing R and the accent in general.
>>70792716
>W/V
those sounds really arent that related
As a native speaker, literally nothing about this bothers me. I'm "deaf" to it 99% of the time other than noticing it's a non-native speaker. We have a lot of accents here though.
>>70792638
Benis :D
>>70792980
Which is one of the reasons for why we have problems with them.
We don't use "W" at all in our language and your "V" is pronounced differently from our "V".
Have you ever heard a scot or an aussie speack. Most of english speacker do not pronounce english properly.
Btw i'm the fucking stereotype of a french speaking english, it's hardly understable
>>70793093
what is to you the most annoying accent ?
>>70793206
but W is just a glorified U that sometimes sounds as a consonant.
Bostonians aren't understandable in general
>>70789973
>look pronounced as luke
That's the correct pronunciation
>this pronounced as these
Both words sound the same
>>70793287
dunno. of the native speakers probably the australian/new zealand accent. have nothing against those lads but it really grates on me. that or the "omg xD" valley girl burger accent. or scots.
>>70793670
see that's where you're wrong kiddo
>>70793769
>Great Britain
Stopped reading there
>>70793206
>your "V" is pronounced differently from our "V"
that's not a pronunciation problem, you just cant read
>>>/r9k/34633473
>>70789973
>sean/shaun/shawn
enlighten me
>>70793883
He's right you know
>>70794119
sure. anybody who names their kid shaun or shawn should be gassed. no difference in pronounciation though.
>>70794374
are sean and john pronounced different? if the answer is no, which one is the correct spelling?
>>70794549
yes they are pronounced quite different, but I realise you don't really have our "J" sound.
youtube it if you want to hear
>>70794119
shahn
shohn
shoaun (french au)
they are basically the same but this is how l differentiatie them

https://youtu.be/F-xbriHlIBU
>>70794639
thanks, I suppose it something like this:
john = /dʒɒn/
sean =/ʃɒn/
>>70789973
All consonants are pronounced very bluntly.
Words with th/r are a dead giveaway.
>zis/zat instead of proper th sound
>Rasha with a rolled r
>ah sound instead of ɑ in every word
>soft consonants when they shouldn't be and vice versa
>>70793670
>>70793883
I'm OP.
you're pronouncing wrong those words, like my fellow countrymen.
and you are being smug about it as if you were right, like my fellow countrymen.
I don't want to insult you, but I think you deserve a "retard" for being wrong, smug and stubborn.
>>70794751
>>70794763
they actually do sound kind of similar I suppose. can see the confusion. pronounciation in english for john is less of an "jaan" sound and more of a "john"
>>70789973
General fucked up speech pattern/intonation like the french
>media = mediar
>idea = idear
>india = indier
>tonga = tonger
why do english """people""" do this?
>>70794549
remember how the argies pronounce the "LL", that's were the problem is coming from
>>70796568
literally what
>>70795934
delete this
>>70796715
llamar-shamar
yo-sho
LLON-SHON
>>70796826
I know how we pronounce it, what the fuck does that have to do with anything?
>>70793670
italians tend to pronounce those pairs of words the same too
it's like instead of having one long vowel and one short vowel, they kinda have a medium length vowel that they use for both
>>70796894
see>>70789973
>>john pronounced as sean/shaun/shawn (they say Sean Lennon which is annoying)
>>70791636
>>I mean I would understand other consonants, but P is pretty much the same all over the world.
There's no "P" sound in Arabic.
Their Pepsi trucks actually say "Bebsi" in Arabic :DDD
>>70796960
so? what are you even saying?
you also quoted this guy >>70794549
>>70789973
>bad vs bed vs bat vs bet
>cup vs cop vs cub vs cob
>bit vs beat vs bid vs bead
>pull vs pool
>>70797049
>non-native speakers in charge of reading comprehension
>pronouncing 'radio' as 'raadio'
Why do jfs do this?
>>70797967
I still don't understand what he meant.
we pronounce LL like "sh", but what does that have to do with anything?
>>70798225

was just bullying (You)
>>70789973
Th souns
>>70791636
It's benis instead of penis in Finland too.
>>70789973
I'd say anything with the letter r is a clear giveaway about the accent, since we pronounce it hard.
>>70789973
French can't into pronuncing word with "th" in it
