Depends largely on their income class and the region they hail from.
The poorer sections amongst them and the ones in the North and the East (many in the latter are illegal aliens from Bangladesh) overtly or covertly act against national interests.
The richer ones esp in the West and the South are usually well-assimilated and loyal to India

That's something which was proposed and should have been done during the Partition in 1947. Alas, Gandhi and Nehru (our first PM) were staunchly secular and fervent supporters of Muslims and didn't let that happen
