I've started to listen to more Mongolian music than western since learning about the common origins of Finns and Mongolians.

Mainly Mongolian folk metal like Nine Treasures but also softer music like uhaarch amjaagui buhnii chin toloo.

I never hear about Finland in our news but I don't think your country is irrelevant.
Still, being a very sparsely populated ex-communist country with little industry or political happenings to it placed just between Russia and China might have something to do with it.
I remember some mongol tribe of sheep herders clashing with their government last year though. Oh and the opposition party winning the elections by a landslide because apparently their economy is pushing the brakes heavily

I've to say the same.

Before /int/ I didn't know that Finnland had mandatory military service, or that they liked saunas and such.

I can't think of one single stance of Finnland being mentioned in mainstream media, not even football related.

That doesn't make Finnland irrelevant, just make them irrelevant to us.
