There's no doubt that norwegians aren't one of the highest educated and effective workers in the world. They are nordic after all.

Difference is all of their success before hand has been built on getting lucky and striking oil, thus making all their achievements by definition of lesser value than for example a country the population of which dragged itself out of crippling poverty with nothing but hard work to the number one position of your list :^)

Actually no, our economic reforms which started in the 20s-30s set our course, we didn't gain much on oil until the 80s, by then we were already "rich", and relative to Nordic GDP we were always at the same level.
While oil has taken over our industry completely nowadays, does not mean it was always like that.

Our economy is diversified, but 100% dependant on oil due it being oil for almost 4 decades now.
