Hi, TicoBro. Could you post some pics/info about Costa Rica. I kind of want to learn more about your country. Like: history, geography, demography, culture, music, that sort of stuff.
>>
>>70565105
I could, or you could ask me something specific.
>>
>>70564881
But Chile is older than Peru and Bolivia.
>>
>>70565166

The territory of what is today Costa Rica was invaded around 2000 years ago by Chibcha tribes who came from Colombia. They exterminated the Nahualt filth from the land and established themselves here. The only place were Nahualt peoples lived when the Europeans came here was the Nicoya Península, where two groups lived, Chorotegas and Mengues. The Chibchas, represented today by the Maleku, Huetar, Bri Bri, Cabecar, Gnabes, and other, are considered to be the base of our culture and traditions.

During the Colonial times only two places where "conquered" or controlled by the Spaniards, the Nicoya Peninsula and the Central Valley, this last one was most of the Huetar territory, the allies of the Spaniards. Because of a lot of political and economic reasons, the Spanish government nor the Viceroyalty or the Captaincy wanted to develop the New Cartago Province (today Costa Rica). Because of this very few Spaniards came to live here, mostly Sephards came, the Casta System was never implemented, the mixing with the small Huetar population was very fast, etc. This is one of the main reasons my Costa Rica as a whole is so different and has nothing in common with the """""people"""" north of the country who some believe have something to do with us because of the colonial times. A very important part of Costa Rican identity is to keep away in every sense from the Chaos and subhumanity of the North.

The Nicoya Peninsula became independent from Spain the 12 of October of 1821, the Cartago Province the 29 of October of 1821 and the South of the country became independent with Colombia or Panama depending of who you ask. Most of the country was never controlled by the Spaniards, so an important part of our 19th century history was to convince the different Amerindian territories to join us, the most important was the Bri Bri territory at the beginning of the 20th century.

With a few wars here and there against Panamá/Colombia and Niggeragua, we had a pretty calm 19th century, marked by a very few immigration to the country, steady and fast economic development and so on. The 20th century was marked with a lot of immigration, most Italians, Catalans, Poles, Chinese, Blacks from all over the Caribbean and USA, Germans, and Colombians.

Join the Nazis in 1936, back stab them and the local ethnic Germans in 1941, civil war in 1948, make the biggest mistake of our whole history wand built a land route between Costa Rica and Central America (after a week of officially opening said route Niggeragua invaded), be neutral during the Cold War, etc.

While people say Costa Rica is a racist/xenophobic country, that is not the case, you see, we only hate the Mesoamerican subhumans who live on the Narco world between USA and Costa Rica, is a very important part of being Costa Rican; besides, like I said, our whole history is being ourselves and not wanting to be involved with any other country or population. I could now talk about the 8 different socio cultural regions and the role of Nicoya and Limón in the National identity but I'm bored.

Nope, both countries share more things in common with us than with Mexico. The Costa Rican accent is very hard to tell apart from our accent unless they start using the word "mae". Panamanians could pass as costeños as well and their accent is similar. Heck, even the food and local customs in both countries are pretty similar
