New Jersey is the first American state to offer baby boxes to all new parents modelled on the Finnish maternity package concept that dates back to the 1930s. The concept aims to provide a practical starter kit for new parents with clothing and other items in a box that doubles as a temporary bed for newborns.
Canada, Argentina, Scotland, Ireland and some parts of England and Korea have all adopted Finnish baby boxes.
a fucking baby box
Before Finns started with this box thing they had a 60% child mortality, the box was originally meant to serve as a coffin as well.

It was never intended to double as a coffin (lol), but reducing child mortality (also by forcing mothers to seek medical assistance with their pregnancy as a prerequisite for obtaining the care package) was a key aim and result of the initiative.

When was this?

And the infant mortality rate back then wasn't 60%, it was 6%. I mean, just imagine the effect a 60% child mortality rate would have on population growth.

1930s, like the OP says. But beware Swedish lies:
>>70489881
The 60 isn't percentage, it's given as per 1000 newborns.
>>70489881
60% would mean Finns would die off in a generation or two lol

Pretty much, unless we were churning out babies at a truly alarming rate.
Ours was a fucking joke. Said cardboard box was worth like 100 USD, because the contract was given to government officers' friends that overcharged it to hell.
Combine that with the money the government decided to give to pregnant teens, this half assed policy only multiplied precarious families, and enriched corrupt fucks.

Scratch that, meant 700 USD, pick related
>>70490498
That's not a cardboard box with basics.
>>70490541
>>70490541
noice
>>70490684
:DDD
>>70490404
Is there anything left on that continent that is not drowned in corruption?
>>70491052
nah
>>70491052
>>70491291
Ignore that, a government man knocked at my door and nicely asked me to tell you everything is alright
