I felt extreme social pressure in addition to academic stress, the anxiety gave me multiple panic attacks and sleep deprivation. I felt like a complete loser. Except putting yourself out there doesn't really guarantee anything. I haven't made a new friend in around 10 years or so, and year by year I am drifting apart from the friends I made before that. I have worked in different places, chatted with co-workers during breaks and all that good stuff. Didn't make any new friends.
