Having lived in Asia for 10 years, I unironically can say this.

Chinese Northeastern/Dongbei/Pearl rice is the best.

Texture and stickiness like Japanese rice, lightly sweet, but with the fragrance of Thai rice.
Stays soft even when cold and wont become hard like basmati or other "western" rice.
Japanese rice also is as soft and sweet, but doesnt feature that fragrance.

Problem just is that it's fucking expensive. Even more than Sushi rice.
