It's a fun idea to toy with, but I think it would fail. Smaller countries are _in general_ more democratic, have more potential for good administration and require less bureaucracy to work properly, so in the end you'd be shitting Uruguay and Chile a lot and Argentina a bit.

Also consider the balance of powers, Argentina (read: Buenos Aires) would pretty much rule unmatched there.

The most likely scenario is Argentina annexing us but for now their military is rekt and they don't have any expansionistic ideas and we see no benefit from joining Argentina that would make up for losing our independence. The other parts are to different to become a union.

While we share some similarities with Rio Grande do Sul and it is ancient spanish clay there are also substantial differences since we have been separated for centuries and the language barrier exists.

Chile is very far away and our culture is quite different as well. The Andes have always been a huge barrier.
