There are as many serial killers as anywhere, the question is why there's so many famous killers in America, and the answer is because of the glorification of murder by the media, they are celebrities in the US, as in a place like Brazil they are just subhuman scum.

The US has more because we have records dating back to 1865, while most countries have not been recording serial killers in great detail until the past 50/60 years.

That's hardly true. Only if the research is using serial killers' definition of having a peculiar method like leaving marks or using the same weapon.
If you count serial killing as simply killing more than 3 people in a succession it's impossible to ever get that statistic.
