Americans feel like:

We did something great here. Why are people suffering in other countries? I hope it's not because they just don't know better. We'll just tell everyone how we do things, and if it helps, great, and if it doesn't, no harm done.

Unfortunately many other social orders depend on people NOT knowing things. So naive americans end up being a threat to powerful people in those countries, who then must resist western influence with propaganda and tricks to make the US look bad.

And while american PEOPLE are good natured and naive, corporations are sociopathic by design, and do western nations no favors.
