doesn't matter if the majority of the population is unwilling to defend a NATO ally if it comes to it. The majority of Germans wouldn't (as shown by polls), they're the second weakest link in the alliance besides Turkey (who are more likely to start a war than have one declared on them). All NATO bases in Germany should be moved to Poland, since Germans complain about them so much anyway.

But why, the German military would just do what it is told, do you think the Germans would need to conscript the entire population for the war ?
I thought we moved on to professional, volunteer armies. What about the economy to fund the war, this seems inefficient.
Do you want them to take the average fat neckbearded Hans away from his desk work, give him a rifle and tell him go run at the Russian lines ? If it came to that (i really doubt it) he wouldn't have a choice anyways and he'd be shot if he refused so his consent is irrelevant in the first place

>"Europe is an economic giant, a political dwarf, and a military worm."
>-Craig R. Whitney

You'd like the US to become more like Europe? The reason Europe lacks the two of the latter, is because you bear most of its burden. That was all forged right after the WWII by the will of the Allied countries. Cutting some ties now would eventually strengthen Europe and diminish your own global influence.
I personally have absolutely nothing against it, on the contrary, I'm all for it.
I just don't like any sudden moves. It creates chaos.
Even dismantling NATO would be quite ok if you'd allow Germany and Poland to have about 500 nukes each. And a few for us too, you know, for the Hyperwar...

Thats why its ~not~ imperialists.

We aren't forcing our values. Our values, however, are on open display.
>>
>>69883545
What you call american imperialism is actually the eisenhower doctrine. Out of the 12 regime changes between 1945-1989 that the US took a part in 10 of them were to counter soviets setting up sympathetic communist states (vassals) to avoid another north korea and later a new cuba situation from arising. The fact that 8 of them happened in south america clearly shows that americans were mostly acting preemptively against encroaching soviet aggression, except in the case of grenada and iran. Funnily enough the iran coup was entirely planned by brits, but americans always get the glory.

So considering that the soviet union didn't even bother enstalling sympathetic leaders but rather forcefully integrated countries into the warsaw pact I'd say the americans were once again the good guys here. I'd much rather have them running around the world and occasionally fucking up than immoral russians who don't even bother trying to keep up appearances.

The US has influence because it's a massive developed economy, not the other way around. Everyone wants to access US markets, and US products are exported across the world. The Pharmacutical and Computing industry for example would be tiny fractions of what they are now without the US market share

That reminds me of the most retarded shit in relation to America. On the building of the Supreme Court, there are depictions of the Great Lawmakers including Alfred the Great (who made the most important legal reforms to England prior to the Normans introducing Common Law), Saint Louis (who heavily reformed France's legal system including the Prud'Homme, which still exists today) and Napoleon (who created the Code Civil and changed civil law around the world). They also wanted to include Muhammad, but decided against it after CAIR (some Muslim interest group in America) threw a hissyfit about it. They have a Catholic Saint on there, but Muhammad? Nah, that's just going too far!

That said, I'm happy they listened and didn't put Muhammad up there. That bloodthirsty warlord and his horrific "laws" that kill thousands every day doesn't deserve to be up there with the legal gamechangers like Napoleon.

Yeah, and the only reason Britain became a superpower is because everyone ganged up on France for two decades without intermission.

And France only became a superpower because half of Europe collectively decided to fuck up the Habsburgs.

And the Habsburgs only became a superpower because... see where I'm going here?

That said, America's rise to prominence was inevitable, as was that of Russia. When you have a huge country full of resources with a massive and rapidly growing population (America had Nigeria-tier fertility rates as well as massive migration from Europe) in a country that's both industrialized and has a solid education system, what happens?

The Louisiana Purchase sealed the deal, after that the American Empire was inevitable. The question was no longer if, but when.

Without the world wars France and Britain would still be big players, but they'd play second fiddle to America and possibly a non-soviet Russia.

How the fuck is cutting military spending to countries that can defend themselves and even more by using that money on our own country and people instead lapping up Russian cum?

How is not wishing to engage in constant aggression with Russia sucking their dick?

You're a fucking idiot and this idiocy is what led to Brexit being arguably the biggest disaster of 2016.
>>
>>69886609
>How is not wishing to engage in constant aggression with Russia sucking their dick?

Russia constantly flashes their dick in our face. If we start withdrawing troops from NATO outposts abroad, we're basically pussy ass bitches. This would give Putin a free reign to do whatever the fuck he wants to worldwide (which he will).

Putin doesn't give a fuck about America. He's going to use Trump to advance's Russian interests worldwide, while NATO gets the short end of the stick.

you're right, I probably should've used a bdsm pic - america being bound, tied and blindfolded whilst being spanked by russia.

Jokes aside I hope murricans are taking notes about this thread. Euros are shitting their pants at the thought of the US leaving nato. It should be obvious by this point that we need you guys more than you need euros, but at the same time I have no doubt that after you've cleared up your internal squabbling you'll remember who was there to celebrate your 240th year of independence and who'll also be there for the 250th.

Do you expect those countries to have no military bases whatsoever? They show up as NATO bases because every now and then our troops do military exercises there.

Russians keep nuclear missiles in Kaliningrad and they're openly invading one of our allies (Ukraine).

Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons and in turn we are supposed to protect them.

A military alliance works both ways. The Europeans have helped us in numerous wars that helped advance our worldwide interests and we can't abandon them when it's our turn to protect them from Russian aggression.
>>
>>69887179
Pragmatism always wins over flared up emotions and hurt butts. Better to work it out every now and then rather than have it all explode in your face at a later time.

Praytell?

Iraq was a disaster and should jave not happened. Iraq was literally better under Saddam.

Same with Libya and Gaddafi.

Funding the Muhjadeen against the Soviets led to the rise of the Taliban and Al Qaeda.

Vietnam was a disaster.

What else friendo?

Destabilizing Syria by the west funding """"""""moderates"""""""""" against a secular leader who kept secterian and extremist strife largely under control is working though!

Lmao @ neocon policy
>>
>>69887714

Exactly, but our European allies still sent their troops to fight and die in our war. It's the same for all the other wars you mentioned.
