Is that an old version in the pic? Looks way too bulky and long to work as a modern service rifle, as they basically aim towards the rifles being able to be used in lots of roles. As a DRM, as standard close-ranged but also in tighter and faster areas like building interiors, so as an SMG would. Certainly Norway's SF would be using a much smaller variant, or maybe not. I don't know if Norway's SF do anything.

It's a full sized Assault Rifle, so yeah. Most countries are or have moved into Carbines. Brits with the L86, you with Aug, Americans with the M4, etc... It's a bit odd how we haven't followed suit yet.

We probably are planning on it, but like with anything in our military it'll take 3 times as long as it should.

Pffffffffffffffflllllraaaarppp yyyeaaaah sorta semi maybe correcterino m8. Requires a left handed bolt anyways so it can extract properly to a specific side. Assuming that this extremely specific circumstance ever arises, where the AUG is being used, the version that doesnt take NATO mags (Left and right handed options available): where one soldier has been hit, is unable to fight, and drops his rifle, and another dude is on patrol with him, somehow loses his rifle as well (Only Padres patrol without a gat, and they dont participate anyway) , and is near the other bloke, AND they both do not share the same dominant hand, THEN;

1) You can bear through the ejections by simply moving your face slightly away from the port/hardening up
2) Plenty of other body positions to allow you to shoots and toots on something otherwise obscured by obstacles/terrain due to your dominant/firing hand
3) Any half decent digger could fire his rifle ambidextrously, atleast enough to get him out of a rough stint/back to his rifle/out of the firefight (If one blokes hit its more than likely going to be a break contact anyways)

But yeah, definitely still a negative point, just not a massif one

>>69732394
AR-15 family has gone through ~50 years of development and as such is quite a refined piece of equipment. It also has quite a record from the actual battlefield unlike many other rifles. Yes, it has some design flaws but also advantages: Modular, lightweight, fairly accurate and easy to shoot rapidly.

The "stoner action" (it's not really a direct impingement system) is actually a design masterpiece: simple, offers low recoil and is easy to tune for different setups.

I wouldn't call AR-family "not a quality rifle"...

its a derivation of AK-47 and uses the same magazines and calibers, so yes, we can use the bullets of russian guns. one reason we dont join in nato, is that we would have to replace 300k infantry weapons to Nato caliber

less of an issue with modern variants and with EF88 which isn't really an AUG, none of that is an issue at all. Also soldiers should be able to fight professionally regardless of shoulder and weapon, otherwise their country isn't training them very well.

Uninformed bullshit. Von der Laien (sic!) just wanted to be seen as a tough reformer and therefore made stupid decisions.
The G36 works fine under normal conditions. The G36 was never designed to fire 200 rounds in fully automatic fire in a short period. That's what the MG36 was designed for, which was never procured.
