originally only federal agencies were problematic but due to aggressive purchases by toronto financial sector it became a disaster waiting to happen for everyone, when one of the banks decided to file because it was out of liquidity everything came crashing down including federal insurance bodies that were suppose to ensure these losses and domestic auto industry which borrowed heavily from canadian banks, this collapsing effect reverberated across the pond by next year job losses were happening across the board and eu nations started to be exposed as well due to lack of financial stability
