I would say a bit of both but neither at the same time. The general public is against refugees or at least that's the impression I got, but I would go as far as saying people straight up hate them. They are not that big of a problem here, since they are mostly just traveling trough on they way to Germany.

Actually, the government before last tried to pass 'family codices' which would have legalized not only gay marriage but also gay adoption, but the motion was overthrown by a referendum for which Catholic soccer moms mobilised in force, parading their kids across Prešeren square draped in anti-gay signs.

The opinion of most of my liberal 'big city' peers was that gay adoption was not permisible. Slovenes are passive-aggressive like that, and will persistently put forth innocous complaints that, for instance, that new skycraper mares the Ljubljana skyline, even though they are theoretically in favour of Ljubljana getting a more big city feel, you see, but not in such a radical fashion!

So yeah, we're far from Poles, Serbs or Croats, but not raging liberals at heart either.

it's just getting started cause most of the communist sociology and philosophy professors at our liberal arts faculty are against gender and colonial theory, which hurt the social rep of tumblrina types, but I've recently seen a colourful protest featuring college-age women of that description on high street, meaning it might just be getting started.

Most Slovenes are staunchly in favour of abortion. The idea that abortion might one day be banned and that religious instruction might be introduced in schools is the political bogeyman of pretty much every secular Slovene, which makes up a plurality of Slovenes.

The last census was almost 15 years ago and showed s Catholic majority of 57% of the population with an annual decrease of more than 1% in the number of Catholics from 1991. I'd say they've lost the majority by now.
