First one isn't too major, second one was their downfall. Had the eastern front been "closed", the allies on the western front wouldn't have stood a chance. A lot of other mistakes were made but the same can be said for all sides in the war.

Technically Finland gave up a lot of things for their independence. Some Estonians who had fought in the Winter War and Continuance War were shot in the head for it, along with some who tried to escape Stalinism. It's fine but not "few casualities". Had they given up, Stalin would have most of the forces focused on the Baltics hit Finland, and we had a 1 to 17 casualty rate against them due to MG-42 machine guns.
