I used to work at a concert hall, and got in a conversation with an elder American couple, and they gave me a coin with a picture of Jefferson on it. They said that they brought 30 different coins with pictures of presidents on them, and they hand it out to the nicer people they meet. It may just be a meaningless gesture, but I thought that it was very nice.

Overall, Americans are probably the friendliest people I've ever met
