In the Netherlands she represents everything wrong in Europe. Our politicians constantly facepalm at her.

Personally I don't like how a German leader can speak for Europe in treaties and such. Germany might be a big country, with 80 million people, but the EU has 510 million people and it's own leaders.

I remember the time when she represented everything right with Europe and was the pragmatic leader who told those "lazy, greedy Southern Europeans" to get their act together (ie. she did nothing and hoped the problem would solve itself, which has worked out for her own country but not so much for the rest of the EU).

I would say, she represents the german mindset quiet good, that germany wants to be a big neutral switzerland, but that can't be done. So the fight between Reich and Peace is good displayed in her as a leader, but thats also the problem.
She would need to act more but more action means more influence, more conflict and so on and that's something 'we' are afraid off

I remember when growing up, we were filled with pro-EU propaganda in schools about how great it was, how it would lead to friendshipo between european countries and lasting prosperity.
Now it is crushing Ireland into the dust for the benefit of the "big" countries, first with austerity and then by reimposing the border with Northern Ireland again due to brexit.

Look, even if the people of Germany supported the million-migrant policy (they don't), that gives her no right to impose that unilateral choice on the rest of Europe, which has come out in extremely visceral opposition. She opens the doors and then derides the other countries for "not doing their fair share" in taking in hundreds of thousands of unvetted migrants, most of whom are young men, and most of whom are not syrian.

I don't even think her intentions are good. She's not doing it out of altruism, she's doing it out of a deeply-held sense of guilt for Germany's past. Just fucking get over it already, and just because WW2 happened, it doesn't mean you have no right to preserve your country or dare to be selective about who can immigrate there.

She's another Hitler. That's right, she's a Hitler.
