So since this is the board where are the most language related stuff I want to ask ,if possible , translators , how is it in Europe?
What kind of job translating is in Europe, is well paying?
What language's are in most demand ?

I am aspiring to be a translator, even though I only know english ,and can use it to translate (i know plenty other languages but neither of them can be used to translate to english or hungarian due to my lack of knowledge)

So I wish to know more about the market of translating in europe, since i cant really find any info on it.

i'd learn Spanish as well if i had the money to go to Mexico

A translator would earn shit here.

Which is pretty much ten times what Hungarians earn.

Listen Magyarbro, I wanted to study English language and lit, but here in Zagreb, the Faculty of Social sciences and Humanities (faculty of philosophy in Croatian) is the place you can learn it.

This was the only thing that I wanted to study while I was in highschool, as the English language is the only thing I know. Well I found out that you can't JUST study English, but that you have to have a "double major" so I thought that I'll just take anything along with English. Well I completed my highschool and finals and didn't have the best grades.

There was a preliminary test for English, which I got like more than 90% correct, which was more than enough, but there was another preliminary test for the Faculty - and it was a math test. I fucked it up since you couldn't use a calculator and were kind of hard.

So when I got my results back, the online system for applying to uni courses put me at like 300/120 place. I thought that that's it, fuck this and applyed for anything that I could on the faculty in hopes that I could switch courses mid way or even next year - I took "South Slavic languages (with Slovene and Serbian) and Hebrew (well Judaistics to be exact)". I found out that you can't really switch courses that easily, that these things are boring and our professors tell us that these jobs aren't that sought after by employers and that the pay "isn't that high" (which means that is sucks in Croatia - like I can't expect something higher than 1000 euros, IF I would find a job).

Don't go into languages. Automation will take alot of jobs off the job market - languages will be one of the first jobs that won't need humans because computers are already capable of rudimentary translations - and they're getting better. Even if you have a diploma in major languages, you still won't be needed.

I'm saying all of this while my father works as a translator for 3 languages and he has an ok pay but he had to look for the job for a very long time

kys druggie, seriously if you have nothing useful to say but bash then just go back to jerk to your gay porn , fag

>>69037193
Automation can suck my dick, the gay memegineers wont get me out of jobplace for like next 60 years.
I dont believe it .
And why go for shitty language degrees, when all you have to do is get a diploma of something that is useful and then go for a translator and intrepreter course n get diploma, or at least it works like that here.
You can go straight for Translation degree tho, but it would cost more.

I want to translate in business field btw, not in literature.....
